The Durham Region New concept in learning For September of 1984 a new concept in learn- ing will be available to adults in the Port Perry area. The Durham Alternative Secondary Education Program offers an educational opportunity for adults who are unable to attend a traditional high school. A linear timetable permits students to work on one credit at a time (and at their own rate) in English, Math- ematics and Career Awareness. The centre will be open Monday to Friday in the mornings from 8:30 to 12:00 noon provided a sufficient number of students enrol. Current- ly over 100 students who are over 18 years of age and who have been out of school for more than a year are enrolled in similar program centres in Oshawa, Whitby and Pickering. Many adults are eligible for maturity credits earned through related experiences. Mr. Gord Paisley will transfer from his prin- cipal's position at Cart- wright High School to become teacher co- ordinator of the Port Perry Centre.
