Greenbank Gamblers do it all again Gamblers Fastball Club successfully defended their Uxbridge District Fastball League Championship last Tuesday night in Green- bank Park by dropping Claremont Legion by a 6-0 score. The Gamblers swept the best of five final in three straight games to capture the "OKeefe" Trophy for the third time in the last four years. The weatherman was most uncooperative in this years playoffs and the Greenbank Team had two rained out games with Prince Albert "Haugens" in the semi final series and on the Monday night the fog rolled into Green- bank Park so heavy that the game had to be cancelled with Clare- One of these hits came in the top of the first inning when Norm Mc- Kenzie singled, but he was promptly erased as he attempted to steal second on the throw from catcher Hugh Johnston to second baseman John Foster. In the bottom of the first inning third sacker Steve Foster started the Gamblers off with a single into right field and Hugh Johnston's single put runners on first and third. Foster scored on Don Beaton"s line drive hit and John- ston came home on an error by the Claremont shortstop to give Green- bank a 2-0 lead after only one inning of play. Todd Pascoe and Darryl Norton shared the pitching duties for Claremont with Pascoe taking the loss. Greenbank banged out ten hits during the game with Hugh John- ston having a pair and Neil Rodd, Steve Foster, Don Beaton, Trevor Till, John Foster, Ray Meisner, Don Phinney and Dennis Romeril each hitting safely once. The game brought a conclusion to a very successful season for the Greenbank Gamb- lers.
