Ashtons renew golden vows Epsom Area News By Jean Jeffery Oct. 6 1984 was a beautiful day when over one hundred and fifty guests gathered at the home of Faye and Keith Ashton to celebrate the golden wedding of Howard and Ruth (Gib- son) Ashton. The high- light of the afternoon was the wedding service to renew the vows taken fifty years ago. The bride and groom stood under an arch in the lawn. Donna Van Veghel played the wedd- ing music and Rev. Beverley Thompson of Toronto was soloist. Rev. Edith McManiman performed the cere- mony. The bride's sister, Lucille Wagner and her husband Lorne were the attendants. All enjoyed a luncheon prepared by the UCW Community friends. Later the family enjoyed a Anniversary supper honoured guests were Burt Bushell and Bev. Delbert and @e Hearing c Aid Dorothy Catherwood, Kev, Bob and Bev Thompson and Christie of Toronto, Rev. On October 6, 1934, Howard and Ruth Ashton of Epsom married, and haven't had a major quarrel since, even after four children, 13 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Last Saturday the hap- py couple celebrated 50 years of wedded bliss. Says Howard about his wife, *'| thought she was a pretty good cook so | went after her."
