A beautiful season of the year- the explosion of col- our of different hues in woods and hills- the red and gold leaves turning cartwheels on the lawn in the wind- then the birds automatically flying south- there is a hint of sadness in these October days- one realizes it can't last- so now is the time to take a brisk walk- see the gorgeous colours and en- joy the autumn air- most refreshing- the best medicine one can get. Try it! Eventful Community Items - Roy and Doris Not- tingham of Caesarea are very proud grand- parents. Their grand- daughter, Teresa Not- tingham, daughter of Ken and Barb Not- tingham of Little Britain was chosen Dairy Princess at the Lindsay Central Exhibition this year- a distinct honour for Teresa. Our warmest congratulations to Teresa! She is a Grade 13 scholar at Lindsay Collegiate. Robert and Carol Mairs, Steven and Katie "hosted" a Thanksgiving Dinner party and Birth- day celebration on Sunday- a festive event! Those present were: Norm and Bernice Mairs, Nestleton; Allan Mairs of Queensville; John and Diane Slute, Jeremy Jay and Julie, R.R. 1, Oshawa and host and hostess Robert and Carol Mairs and family. The honoured people celebrating were Steven Mairs- who was nine on Sunday, and grand- mother Bernice who had a birthday on Friday, Oc tober 5. A very happy birthday to the celebrants! Winnifred Davison and Aenne Vanderheul of Nestleton, enjoyed a bus trip (DeNure Bus) up the Agawa Canyon- a five day trip- very interesting FRIED CHICKEN AND SEAFOOD with all the beautiful colours- a dazzling sight! Mr. and Mrs. L. Malcolm, Nestleton, were guests on Saturday, October 6, at the mar- riage of their cousin Nan- cy Smalley and Gary Hill in Sandford United Church. The reception, dinner and dance was held in the Zephyr Com- munity Centre. Best wishes to Gary and Nancy! Mr. and Mrs. Grahame Fish, Nestleton, held a Thanksgiving family gathering on Saturday evening. Those present for the special occasion were: Mr. and Mrs. Ron Jacobs, Deanna and Rhonda, Blackstock; Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Fish, Lisa and Laura of Oshawa; Mr. and Mrs. Dan Corby, Blackstock and Paul Vaneyk of Orono. Grandson Craig Holland, Bowmanville, visited his grandparents Grahame and Neta Fish on Sunday. Roy and Doris Not- tingham attended the wedding on Saturday, October 6, held in Colum- bus United Church when Tammy Patricia, daughter of Hilmore and Connie Archer of Port Perry, became the bride of Robert Douglas, youngest son of Roy and Doris Nottingham of Caesarea. Rev. John Hill was the officiating clergyman. The bridal party had their pictures taken at Cullen Gardens- a beautiful setting! The reception and dance was held in Nestleton Com- munity Centre. Hap- piness is wished to Robert and Tammy! Alan and Eleanor Cawker, Oshawa, were luncheon guests on Mon- day this past week with his parents- Sam and Mabel Cawker at the farm, Scugog Point Road. Friend Irma Welts of Nestleton, is doing well healthwise, and she and Walter enjoyed having the family home for Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday. 136 WATER ST. Russel and Edda Bowman, St. Christopher, phoned one evening. She is presently visiting her son who in on holidays. We trust she'll be happy and contented in her beloved Scotland. Community News Don and Norma Frew and Virginia of Nestleton, held Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday for the im- mediate family. Those present for the festive event were: Dave and Leah Frew, Paul and Valerie Mappin, Alan and Judy Frew and their families all of Nestleton. Their daughter Nancy and Gary Edgar were unable to be with them. The Church News A wonderful atten- dance for the Thanksgiv- ing service at the Caesarea Community Church on Sunday morn- ing at 11 a.m. Guest speaker was Robert Heayn and his topic- "God's Gift To Us" - us- ing Scripture Phillipians 2: 9. Mrs. Gretel Cameraon sang a beautiful number 'He Touched Me." Mrs. Crawford- organist. With a very good con- gregation at the Presbyterian Church Sunday at 10 a.m., Rev. Fred Swann used "Thanksgiving" as his theme. A fine arrange- ment for Harvest Home Sunday with an assort- ment of attractive vegetables, flowers and fruit displayed at the front of the Church, was meaningful. Script- 2 Corinthians 9. Psalm 19. Communion Service Sun- day, October 21, at 10 a.m. Ladies Aid will meet this Thursday, at the church. An excellent congrega- tion at Nestleton United. Greeting at the door were John & Marion Hall Rev. Dale Davis delivered a strong ser- mon re- Thanksgiving- "Our Cup Runneth Over' reminding us of how fortunate we are to be living in a land of plenty. Our student minister, Elaine Barber assisted- she kept the children interested and on their toes during the children's theme. We do welcome Elaine to our church. The choir sang a lively number which is a favourite "For His Countless Blessings." The church was nicely decorated with vegetables etc. for the Harvest theme re- the Thanksgiving Service, planned by the younger UCw Sympathy Extended Nestleton friends ex- tend sympat'y to the family of the late Edith 'Hyland, who passea away during the week- a former resident of Nestleton village. The past few years she has been living in Peter- borough to be near her daughters, Mrs. Howard (Muriel) Sutton and Mrs. Maurice (Eileen) Samells. A fine neighbour and friend to many folks and Edith - will be sadly missed in this area. A lovely lady in every sense of the word! Sympathy of the com- munity to cousin May Reynolds, relatives and friends of the late Eddie Williams, who passed away in Port Perry Com- munity Hospital on Wednesday, October 3rd. Service was held at McDermott-Panabaker Funeral Chapel, Port Perry with Interment in Nestleton Cemetery. Ed was a gentle, kindly per- son, liked by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed! We were "indeed" sad- dened to hear of the death of little four year old Casey Panchuk of Nestleton- who had in- curable heart problems. Besides his parents, Larry and Debbie, he leaves a litle two year old sister, Gail. The Funeral was held at the McDermott-Panabaker Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, at 2 p.m. Heartfelt sympathy from this community to the young parents in their tragic loss. Get Well So pleased our friend Daisy McNeely, Williams Point, is feeling some better. She return- ed home from Port Derry Hospital on Tuesday, Oc tober 2nd, - since then has had "home care' and a nurse 3 days a week.
