~4 Ee PORT PERRY STAR -- Tues. November 13, 1984 -- 7 - --_-- Br A et a Ra. ---- Brave girl competes in Special Olympics Ashburn Area News by Mrs. E. Heron The Ashburn group of the W.M.S. met last Wednesday evening at the home of Muriel Fisher. The meeting was opened with a Worship Service by Rose Heron who told the story of a very brave christian girl, Carol Schuller, who in spite of loosing a leg she com- peted in the 1983 special Olympics and was a wonderful christian helper and witness to the other handicapped skiers. The president Bernice Gardner con- ducted the business when plans were made to join the Bible Class at a supper and Christmas program in the Church Hall in December. The Remembrance Day Service was very well attended at Burns Church last Sunday. During the Act of Remembrance, two minutes of silence was observed and Mr. Studdard McFarlane played a suitable piece with the bag pipes. Arnold Ashton and Rev. McEntyre sang a very suitable and lovely duet called "Imagine" that led into the thoughts of Mr. Mec- Entyre's message, "The Rhetoric of Peace'. The scriptures were read by Mrs. John McKinney and Mr. Bill Burgess. The ushers for this month are Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Fisher. Mr. Mc- Farlane pleased every- one by playing his bag pipes again outside after the service. We are sorry there was a mistake in last weeks news about the Moms and Tots pro- gram. It was the Ash- burn Community Centre Board that gave the donation to the group not the town. The Moms and Tots program is going full swing and sounds very interesting. On Nov. 28th there will be a fund raising time with Donna Harris, "Creative Fun for Little Ones". In December there will be an outing to "Cullen Gardens and Dec. 18 a Christmas Party. - For more information about Moms and Tots, phone Noel Barklay 655-4101. The study was given by Catherine Humphrey taken from the study book and Luke 14 and 15. A story Jesus told to help us see ourselves in the mirror of this par- able. Catherine brought out many good points for us to think about. The hostess served a lovely lunch and a social time was spent over the tea cups. Mr. Bryce Moase of Mississauga visited with Mrs. Evelyn Lynde one day last week. ~~ LARRY TAYLOR Al AUTOPRO, WE DON'T 'BELIEVE IN GUESSWORK ® No two cars have the same degree of corrosion and wear ® Every car owner has different requirements safety « performance * investment At Autopro a qualified mechanic inspects your car before giving you a written estimate quaranteed for 30 days! ion OF Question 0 .
