18 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1985 Milk supply update shovis side Total milk marketings to the Board were down 1.4 per centin November compared to'November 1983. This is the fifth con- secutive month during which total marketings have been lower than the corresponding month of a year ago. The month- over-month decreases for August, September ind October were: 2.3; -1.5 and -1.3 per cent respectively. It is still too early to provide a meaningful estimate of year-end pro- vincial MSQ utilization. A preliminary assess- ment suggests that the quota situation will re- main tight throughout the dairy year. Since total marketings have been down every month thus far in the cur- rent dairy year, it might have been expected that the MSQ situation would not be as tight as in re- cent years. However, in relative terms, MSQ shipments to date are not far below last year's. This is due in large part to the aggregate decline in fluid sales. As such, all producers are advised to monitor their quota situation and producers who shipped significant quantities of over-quota milk in the 1983/84 dairy year are advised to bring their production in line with thier quota holdings for the current dairy year. THE FLUID MARKET On a sales day ad- » ~~ justed basis, Novemb.cr fluid sales decreased 2.6 per cent compared to November 1983. Fluid sales compared to the same month of a year ago were down 0.7; 5.4' and 2.0 per cent in August, September and October, pectively. On a cal r year-to- date basis, fluid sales are 0.7 per cent lower than for the corresponding period a year ago.
