The Green Machine played ex: tremely well playing in 5 games and came away winning the C division consolation by a score of 1-0 against Ernestown. Game 1 - The Malmont Farm Atoms played a tough team from Clarkson and came away with a 44 tie. Scoring in the first period was Jeff Parry with the assist going to Duane Empringham, Jody Logan scored the Trappers meeting The Lindsay District Trapper's Council had their third cannual trap- per's Fectival, Jan. 12, 1985. This event which is a very popular occasion brought a very good tur- nout. This special event took place at Fenelon Community Centre, Cambray, Ontario with lots of good prizes, given out by the President, Blain Alsop and council. There was keen competi- tion in the Fur Handling events, and other events open to the public. The next big day will be held by the Apsley District Trapper's Council at the Apsley Community Cen- tre February 16, 1985. YOUTH LEAGUE Team Standings: Falcons - 14; Hawks - 14; Blue Jays - 13; Orioles - 12; Blue Birds - 12; Eagles - 10. Girls High Single: Angela Barclay - 158. Girls High Double: Julie Uugts. Game 2 - The Green Machine played a very tough team from Leam- ington and came away again with another 4-4 tie. In the first period our boys skated well but just couldn't put the puck in the net. In the second period Steve Laird scored the first goal with the assist going to Peter King. With 36 seconds left in the period Jeff Parry scored with the assist going to Jason Cochrane and Steve Laird. In the third period Jason Cochrane scored with the assist going to Brad Moase and Jeff An- drews. At the 7:59 mark Brad Moase netted the final goal with the assistgoing to Jason Cochrane and Steve Laird. : Game 3 - In this game the Green Machine came up against a team from Collingwood and skated to a well played 4-1 vic- tory. In the first period 'Duane Empringham opened the scoring with the assist going to Peter King. In. the second period Jason Cochrane scored with the assist go- ing to Steve Lajrd. In the third period Gavin Cochrane scored his first goal of the year with the assist going to Brad Moase. At the 3:22 mark Steve Laird picked the corner on an unassisted effort. - Game 4 - In this game the Malmont Atoms came up against the Oshawa LNHL Black Hawks and came away GREENBANK & AREA RESIDENTS ... Game 5 - Champion- ship Consolation Game - In this game the Green Machine came up against an old rivalry from Ernestown and came away with a very very close 1-0 victory. In the first period both clubs skated strong but couldn't put the puck in the net. In the second- period with only 33 seconds remaining Jason Cochrane broke around the defense and picked the top corner scoring the only goal of the game. In the third period both clubs skated hard but neither club could score which left the Green Machine with a hard earned 1-0 victory. This tournament was a very exciting tourna- ment to attend and a good time was had by all. The boys and their families stayed at the Red Oak Inn. The coach Don Steele, Assistant Coach Don Harper and manager Sandy Garvock would like to con- gratulate all the boys for their fine plays 'in the tournament as well as their behaviour off the ice while attending this tournament. Atoms bump home team On Saturday Jan. 26/85 the Malmont Farm Atoms travelled to Port Hope to compete in their forth tournament of the year and came away with their second straight consolation win with a convincing 4-1 vic- tory over the home town Port Hope team. Game 1 - In this game the Green Machine ap- peared to be caught sleeping as they lost 3-2 to a team from Warkworth. In the first period both clubs skated slow and couldn't find the net. In the second period Steve Laird scored with the assist going to Jason Cochrane. In the third period Jason Cochrane con- tinued his scoring ways by scoring his forth goal (Good work Jason) unassisted. At the 7:15 mark Brad Moase finish- ed the Green Machine rally with the assist go- ing to Sean McEnaney.
