3 2 § 29 i 5 Flute students at Festival The Sunderland Lions Club 28th Annual Music Festival was recently held in Brock Township. A large group of flute students, who are study- ing with Laural Griffen of Port Perry, par- ticipated in the festival and placed in their respective classes. Woodwind Duet-Grade 6 to 8: Dale Greenwood and Jackie Crawford placed second with 86 percent. Woodwind Solo, Open Class - Grade 9 and under: Jody Luke placed second with 84 percent; Corry Greenwood and Andrea Carnegie tied for third place with 82 percent. Woodwind Solo, Open Class - Grade 10 and up: Lynda Sutton placed se- cond with 84 percent; Emma Salked placed third with 82 percent. Woodwind Ensemble, 3 to 6 players, Grade 9 and 10: Kim Hazelwood, Kristy Williams and Cor- ry Greenwood placed third with 80 percent. Woodwind Choir, Open' On February 14 and 15 the following piano students participated in the Sunderland Music Festival and were suc- cessful in achieving these marks. These students are all pupils of Mrs. Paula Copithorn A.MUS. R.M.T. of Port Perry. Beginner Class - Sandy Mark - 81 percent. Older Beginner - Dan- ny Mahlberg - 83 percent - 1st place. Special Class - 12 years and under - Cathy Pavlik - 77 percent. Class, 7 or more wood- wind players: Port High Flute Choir (Andrea Carnegie, Corry Green- wood, Dale Greenwood, Katy Haralampides, Julie Kohls, Jody Luke, Jane-Ann McGill and Kristy Williams) placed second with 83 percent. Woodwind Duet Grade 9 and 10: Kim Hazelwood and Kristy Williams placed third with 81 percent. Woodwind Duet Grade 11 to 13: Andrea Hobbs and Emma Salk- ed placed first with 85 percent. Congratulations to everyone who par- ticipated in the festival - you all played very well. Special congratula- tions are also extended to Katy Haralampides, of Uxbridge, at this time for completing her Grade IV flute examination with first class honours. Katy received a mark of 81 percent on the exam which she completed through the Royal Con- servatory of Music dur- ing the January exam session. Results from the piano competition Grade II - Lori Hall - 81 per cent; Erin Edgar - 80 per cent. Grade III - Becky Gower - 81 per cent. Grade IV - Elizabeth Connell - 84 per cent - 1st place; Stefanie Canning - 81 per cent; Laura Mark - 80 per cent. Grade VI - Sonatina - Niki Bardeleben - 84 per cent - 2nd place.
