Maple Syrup ready to flow Purple Woods Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority will run its ever-popular Maple Syrup Demonstra- tion at Purple Woods Conservation Area from March 11 to April 12. This will be the ninth demonstration, and everyone is invited to come and join in the an- nual "sugaring off" season. Authority staff will lead tours of the sugar bush, illustrating Indian, pioneer and modern methods of producing maple syrup. Special arrangements can be made for disabled groups or individuals. Fresh maple syrup pro- duced at the sugar bush will be sold as it is available at $9.00 per litre and $5.50 per 500 ml. Maple syrup and maple butter will also be available for sale. As part of the Authori- ty's conservation educa- tion program, over 4,000 elementary students will attend the demonstra- tion. These tours will forrn an important part of their Canadian history program. The annual pancake weekend will be held on March 30-31, in co-operation with the Durham A.M. Kiwanis Club. Tours of the sugar bush will start at the parking lot every twenty minutes from 9:20 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Pony-drawn wagon rides will be available for children at '4 cost of 50 cents each. Pancakes and maple products will be on sale. Purple Woods Conser- vation Area is located north of Oshawa at the southeast corner of Sim- coe Street at the 10th Concession Road.
