16 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, March 26, 1985 Wanted desperately: good leaders for Cubs Scugog Island News by Mrs. Earl Reader I imagine you are beginning to wonder about your bundles of papers. The request is that you keep saving them for a drive perhaps in April. Right now there is a desperate need for Cubs and Beaver leaders. If you are in- terested or know a good contact, please call Gor- don Brown 985-8553. Mrs. Lenore Blueman near Port View Beach is expected to return to her home this week after a week in the Port Perry Hospital. We are pleased to report she is feeling much better. Mrs. Marion Hughes of Port View Beach is recuperating quite well after surgery in Oshawa. This week she goes to Toronto for tests so our best wishes for good reports are with her. For tonight, Wed. all tickets are sold for the Beef Supper at the Com- munity Hall and all signs point to good weather. If you missed this sup- per, don't be discourag- ed, another interesting one is coming up for Sat. April 13 with just one set- ting at 6:30 p.m. for 72 adults at the Community Hall. It is a Building, Fund project by the Stewards of the Island United, but not quite so expensive as a political dinner as this will only be $10.00 a plate. But don't imagine the children are being left out. They will have their very own special dinner at the Church at the same time at only $3.00 each. At last the men are having a chance to prove their skills but the women are selling the tickets. So call Jan. Gerrow or Pat Taylor to reserve yours. This Wed. after the Beef Supper, interested people will meet at the Manse to plan a pot luck supper and Seder meal for Maundy Thursday at 6:15 and 7:15 at the Church. Keep the Easter Breakfast in mind at the Island United, Easter morning 8:30 a.m. t0 9:30 a.m. prior to the Church Services. If you would like to purchase a.lovely Island Church plate, please con- tact Joyce Fuller. Last week John and Mabel Sweetman were very surprised and pleased to receive a telegram from our Queen from the palace, congratulating them upon the occasion of their60th Wedding Anniversary.
