In fact, the Port Atoms went on to whip the visitors 13-0 to take a 2-0 lead in the series. Following the game, the respec- tive coaches agreed that the scheduled match for this - On Monday, March 18, the Malmont Farm Atoms travelled to Bowmanville to play in. their second game of a 2 of 3 series and came away with a very strong 12-1 victory. In the first period Jody Logan open- ed the scoring with the assist going to Steve Desautel. The second goal was scored by Duane Empringham with Peter King earning the assist. At 2:49 mark Jason Cochrane scored with the assist going to Jeff Andrews and Steve Laird. At the 2:27 mark Gavin Cochrane ended the first period scoring on a nice unassisted effort. The third period didn't change the scoring pace of the Green Machine as they notched 5 more unanswered goals. At 8:55 Jason Cochrane col- lected his second goal assisted by Brad Moase and Chad Garvock. At 7:29 mark Duane Empr- ingham notched his se- cond goal assisted by Jeff Parry and Mlke Sluggett. At the 3:47 mark Sean McEnaney scored with the assist go- ing to Lindsay Parry and Jeff Andrews. At the 3:39 mark Jody Logan notch- ed his second goal on a fine unassisted effort. The final goal of the night was scored by Jason Cochrane who once again earned the hat trick. This game wrap- ped up the series and ad- vanced us to the semi- finals against a team from Campbeliford. Atoms Win Series On Friday, March 22, the Malmont Farm Atoms travelled to Campbellford and came away with a very solid 8-0 shutout victory. The first period started out slow for the Green Machine as they ap- peared to have trouble finding the net. Scoring the only goal of the period was Sean McEnaney with the Mei LY assist going to Jason Cochrane. In the second period the Green Machine started to roll as they col- lected three more markers. At the 8:17 mark Jody Logan notch- ed his on an unassisted effort. At the 3:23 mark Jason Cochrane scored with the assist going to Brad Moase. At the 3:10 mark Sean McEnaney scored his second goal with the assist going to Jody Logan. In the third period the Malmont Atoms scored 4 goals. At the 14:06 Brad Moase unassisted, at 9:20 Brad Moase again with the assist going to Steve Laird and Jason Cochrane. At 4:55 Brad Moase notched the hat trick with the assist go- ing to Jason Cochrane. PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, March 26, 1985 -- 21 Friday would not be necessary and Port Perry now ad- vances to the East Ontario Finals. The opponent will most likely be Napanee and the first game is tentative- ly slated for this Saturday night in Port Perry at 7:00 p.m. Check arena timetable later this week for confirmation.
