Emmersons - 9 Cochranes - 4 Cochrane Trotters who were last year's winners, again took on Emmer- sons Insurance team in the finals, only to be out done in game one 94 Emmersons. In the first period, the Trotters played it very close, and took an early lead 2-0 after one period of play. The goal scorers were Ron Halligan from Haist and Vernon, then Frank Van Veghel work- ed the puck between the defence to score after Haist broke up a Rewrites rush then pass- ed to Hughes to Van. The second period saw a close, hard checking period of hockey before Emmersons came back to notch two goals to tie the game at 2-2 after two periods. John Not- tingham worked hard to get the puck in the cor- ner, and passed out front to Chris Logan who scored. Peter Brock stole the puck at centre ice and broke in along to beat Hobbs for his goal. In the third period, it was all Emmersons as they broke the game wide open as they scored seven goals, while Cochranes were able to score twice. Scoring for Cochranes was Ron Halligan getting his se- cond and Todd Haist. Picking up assists were Vernon, VanVeghel and Diceman. Wedding bells are ring- ing in our community again and we hope they will be bells of happiness for the newlyweds. There was a good tur- nout at the euchre last Thursday evening when nine tables of euchre was played. The two high scores were won by Marg and Martin Gall. The second prizes went - to Violet Cole and Nor- man Birkett. Don Wood got the most lone hands and Sally Thompson won the door prize. She also won the 50/50 draw. Lunch was enjoyed. The next euchre party will be in two weeks on April 4th. All euchre players are welcome. Those who were able to attend the Birthday Par- ty Fashion Show last Saturday afternoon were pleased with the over all presentation. The Burns Church Hall was tastefully decorated with balloons and pin ups. Betty Jean Blyth, owner of "Children's Market Place' in Whitby gave a running commen- tary with musical background. The children captured everyones hearts and all looked lovely in their smart looking outfits from play wear to their very best Sunday clothes. ' Also the mothers-to-be looked in their pretty and well made maternity things. Toys and baby furniture was also displayed which made it very interesting.
