"On June 5th there will be a CPR course at the Community Centre. On May 11th, the Boy Scouts will be having a bottle drive, so while the spring house cleaning is being done, save your bottles and you may take them to the Ashburn: store anytime after May 4th. There is a 'sign up' sheet posted at the Cen- tre so if you would volunteer to help, it would be much appreciated. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Fisher and Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay Death attended the 50th wedding an- niversary of their friends Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wakelin. The reception "was held at the Allen Gardens in Toronto. Doug and Florence Ashton visited recently with Mrs. Ruth Purdy of Mono Centre, and Jean and Cecil Wilson of ~ Fergus. The highlight of their visit was joining in with the celebration of the 100th Birthday of Mr. John Tennyson of Fergus, who is indeed a very remarkable person for his age. Very keen minded and has a very avid interest in his vegetable garden. Mr. Tennyson's father was a second cousin to the poet Lord Alfred Tennyson. The Presbytery of Lind- say and Peterborough met in Burns Church on Tuesday of last week and reported it was a good meeting. The ladies of the Kirk Guild prepared a noon-meal for about 45 members of Presbytery.
