United Church Women Meet The May meeting of the Nestleton U.C.W. met at the new home of Leona Sadler with a smaller attendance than usual. Unit Leader Jean Williams opened the meeting with a poem en- titled, 'We do not walk alone" followed by a hymn. Bernice Mairs gave the inspirational Devotional taken from Psalms and Programs for women, the theme - "Happiness is..."" with several members reading verses of Scrip- ture. Bernice explained how many new and wonderful ways we have of enjoying happiness. Roll Call - a tribute to Mother. Minutes were read and adopted. Jean Williams presented the Treasurer's statement in the absence of Neta Fish. Over $1200.00 was cleared on the Spring Smorgasbord and members discussed ways to improve the sup- per in the coming year - to be held early in May. $60.00 is to be sent to Mis- sions at the appropiate time. A decision was made to make a charge of $5.00 for rent of lun- choen cloths. The September meeting will be held in the church basement on Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. Bernice, Gwen and Leona volunteered to make plans for the lunch. Collection amounted to $7.00. A hymn was sung and the meeting closed with Mizpah Benedic- tion. A social hour was enjoyed with a lovely lunch prepared by Doris Rohrer. Marion Hall gave a vote of apprecia- tion to all. Executive of Nestleton General U.C.W. Meeting On Thursday afternoon the Executive met at the home of the President Gwen Malcolm. Plans for a June Dessert lun- cheon were cancelled as the guest speaker is unable to come due to ill health. The group decid- ed to have a Bake Table at the Flea Market, June 22 at Nestleton Com- munity Centre and to ex- plore the possibility of a Musical Evening in the fall. Meeting closed with Mizpah Benediction, followed by coffee and a social time. Family News Barry and Joan Malcolm of Simcoe, were guests on the weekend with his parents, Lawrence and Gwen Malcolm, Nestleton. Other recent guests for dinner were Stanley Malcolm, Port Perry; Dennis and Laina Malcolm, and Jove and Leta Michelle of Ajax. Norm and Bernice Mairs, Nestleton, had an interesting couple of days last week visiting with Bernice's family at Sundridge. While there they had a visit with Lewis and June Kent, Cecil and Thelma Kent and son Jim, and her sister Violet and Reg Milne. A great get-to-gether! Neta Fish, Nestleton, spent a few days with her daughter Marlene Ban- nister and family of Peterborough during the past week. Cartwright Scouts This coming Saturday the Cartwright Scouts will be having a bottle drive taking in Caesarea, Nestleton and Black- stock. The proceeds from the drive will be going to the Boy Scouts for the Canadian Jamboree which will be held in Guelph, July 3 to July 12. An Enjoyable Experience Paul Dearborn, Scugog Point, recently spent a week in Clyde River, Baffin Island, as 'the guest of the family of Eli Qillaq. He was part of a Cultural exchange with fourteen other Grade 10 Geography students. Clyde River, a Nor- thwest Territories, is located 2200 air miles from Toronto and is above the Artic Circle. Paul was most impress- ed by the twenty - four hour daylight - and Eli seemed to enjoy the lower prices of food. It was a very enjoyable experience for all thirty students involved and Paul would like to thank Mr. Jones for giving him the chance to be involv- ed with the 1985 Clyde - Port Perry exchange.
