He said these flower vendors may have hurt business for the three florists shops in Port Perry who rely heavily on special occasions like Mothers Day as an im- portant part of their retail sales. Mr. Hvidsten said that while stores pay business tax, the road- side vendors do not. They don't pay any kind of licencing fees and in some cases are not charging sales tax on their products. left as a small park, while others feel the land has commercial value and should be sold by the municipality for the best price possible. The lawn bowling club had an appraisal done on the site which in- dicated it could be worth a minimum of $40,000 to as much as $110,000 as prime commercial property in the heart of downtown Port Perry. The Chamber of Commerce is very con- cerned that similar vendors will start showing up on the street corners in greater num- bers. Durham-York MPP Ross Stevenson will be on hand to officially open the heliport, as well as members of the Hospital Board and Council.
