Township picks up tab for water, sewers Township council has agreed to pick up the cost for extending water and sewer service lines to the new lawn bowling green on Simcoe Street. It is estimated that the cost could run as high as $3900. Grace Love, a member of the executive of the Port Perry Lawn Bowling Club told council Monday afternoon that when the club accepted the lot on Simcoe St. North for the new greens and club-house, mem- bers were under the im- pression the service lines were in place. This turned out not to be the case, and Mrs. Love said the club's con- struction budget doesn't make provisions for ex- tending the services. Construction of the greens and the club house is well underway, and Mrs. Love said it is important that there be a supply of water since the contractor is now getting ready to seed the greens. Scugog Township sup- plied the lot for the greens and club house at a cost of $23,000.00, and it Is expected that the new site will be ready for play next summer. Council rejects long distance A new plan from Bell Canada to allow any resi- dent of Scugog Township to phone long distance to the municipal office toll- free, was rejected by council Monday afternoon. Under the plan, any long distance call to the Township office would cost the municipality half the normal cost, but the Township would have to pay an additional $5.15 per month as well. Councillors felt the ser- vice is not needed here as there are few residents of Scugog who are in a long distance zone for calling the Municipal office.
