§ § E : £ | F § What's new Blackstock Fair? What's new at Blackstock Fair"? Everything old at the 120th annual fair is new again, natch, as well as a slew of brand new events guaranteed to convince you that Ontario's best one-day fair is indeed the best. Actually, the one-day fair isn't exactly one day anymore. Things get rolling Friday August 23rd at 7:30 sharp with a rock 'em sock 'em demolition derby with more bang-ups than the 401 at rush hour. But most of the fun does take place the hext day, August 24th, right around the vicinity of the Blackstock Fairgrounds. The buildings open at 9:30 and will be chock full of delicious homebaking, countless displays, the best of local crops, and Old Mac- Donald's Farm ---- a petting zoo filled with lots of critters for the kids to enjoy. At 10:30 the horse show gets underway and con- tinues the rest of the day with heavy horses, horse pulls, light horses, saddle horses, junior classes, pony classes and com- mercial pony classes. Merrill Van Camp is directing the show which features judges Ron McHugh, light horses; Clarke Trent, heavy horses; Gloria Nighswander, saddle. the Exhibitors are allowed two entries in each sec- tion and don't forget to have all entries into secretary Joyce Kelly before August 17th. AT 11:00 a.m. things really heat up when the parade rolls into the fairground. It leaves Cartwright Central Public School at 10:45 and judging will take place at 10:15 sharp. Prizes will be awarded for the best decorated, non-commercial float, commercial float, mini- float, girls bicycle, boys bicycle, clowns, child's wagon or doll carriage, tricycle, auto, novelty (on foot), novelty (on wheels), box (sponsored by the nursery school), child with pony and oldtime horse drawn vehicle. Once the parade ar- rives, the Central Public School band will play on as Dairy Princess Sharyn Barkey officially opens the festivities, followed by the Hoskin Stables Musical Ride and 4-H Club Achievement Days featuring beef, swine and sheep. At 12:30 the cattle show starts, thanks to director Rolly Coy (beef) and Ralph Larmer (dairy), as well as judges Bill Jackson and Jack Macklin.
