Many new activities will be starting in the next few weeks. On Sept. 12, registration for Minor Hockey will take place at Blackstock Arena from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Registrations for Night School at Cartwright High School will be held on Monday and Tuesday evenings. Late phone calls will be accepted the rest of this week at the School if spaces are available. Courses of- fered are: Basic Accoun- ting - Tuesday 7-9 for 10 weeks; Cosmetology for 3 weeks - Tuesday 7-9; Micro-Wave Cooking - Thursday 7-10, 5 weeks; Slimnastics - Wed. 7-9, 10 weeks; Micro-Comp- uters for Beginners - Tuesday 7-9, 5 weeks. Since publication of course topics Chair Can- ing with Eileen McLaughlin will be of- fered for 10 weeks on Monday 7-9. Congratulations to Doug Fallis and Linda Moase who were mar- ried quietly at their farm. The ceremony was attended by family members. Aileen VanCamp along with Jim and Margaret Ann VanCamp of Scugog Island, have returned home from an exciting trip to Germany, Austria and Yugoslavia. In their three weeks they enjoyed seeing many, many points of interest in these countries. At Durham College, Kim Bullock, Deb DeVries, Nancy Witte- veen, Angela Duives- teyn, Don Arnold, Danny Russell, Julia Vanderheul, Alan Petrie, and Andrew Petrie. Lynn McDiarmid is returning to Loyalist College, Belleville for her third year in Developmental Service Worker, training. In spite of the weather a good crowd turned out to th Hoskin Stables on Sunday afternoon to watch the handicapped riders display their skills at the Seventh Annual Open House sponsored by the Durham Region Horseback Riding for the Handicapped Associa- tion. Nineteen members took part. A thank you presentation was given by President Moyra Pudleiner to Terry and Shirley Cane in apprecia- tion for their hospitality, patience and skill over the last year. The Association relies heavi- ly on the use of volunteers. Moyra presented each volunteer with a thank you gift. We were pleased to have Alf Brown, Sandra Williams and Mary McEwan of St. John Ambulance in at- tendance. The poor weather changed the plans but a fun time was enjoyed at the Church. President Joy Werry welcomed everyone. In two weeks a hay ride al the home of Brent McLaughlin will be held. Nancy and Bob Bryans, Gord, Debbie and Leanna Bryans all of Egypt enjoyed Sunday morning brunch at Patti and Rick Alpe's. The oc- cassion was Nancy and Gord's birthdays which were Sept. 5th. Happy Birthday greetings. Gord, Debbie and Leanna Byrans have moved into the school house in Egypt. Steve and Lorinda Bryans will soon be in their new home in Pontypool.
