Heartiest con- gratulations to Percy and Elva VanCamp and to George and Ella Bowers of Nestleton who have reached this milestone. On Sunday the VanCamp family held an Open House in honour of their parents in th United Church CE. Room with a large number of relatives and friends in attendance. A family dinner with ap- proximately forty members completed a lovely day. The family of Mr. and Mrs. Bowers held an Open House in honour of their parents on Friday evening in Nestleton Hall. Congratulations. VANCAMP 60TH WED- DING ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. Percy VanCamp celebrated their 60th wedding an- niversary on Sunday, September 22nd, 1985 with an Open House held in their honour in the Christian Education Room of Blackstock United Church. Sixty red roses tastifully decorated the tea tables. Many cards, expressing con- gratulations from family and friends, family pic- tures and wedding bells of 60 years contributed to the setting. Plaques ex: pressing best wishes were received from Queen Elizabeth 11, the Prime Minister of Canada and Premier of Ontario. A tasty lunch was prepared by Blackstock Women's In- stitute. Following the afternoon gathering, a dinner and social visit was enjoyed by their im- mediate family and friends. Blackstock and District Club Lioness Club is sponsoring Operation Outreach Pro- gramme at Cartwright Central Public School on October 3and 5. Thisis a Mr. and Mrs. Percy Van Camp celebrated their 60th Anniver- sary in Blackstock last Sunday. Congratulations to Gary and Carolyn Moun- tjoy on the birth of their daugher Emily Jean on September 18. The Bruce Mountjoys spent Sunday afternoon and evening with the Ray Mount joys in honour of Ray's birthday. Many from the Blackstock area attend- ed the annual Interna- tional Ploughing Match in Elgin County near St. Thomas. Harold and Roy McLaughlin participated in the Horseshoe Pit- ching Competition in which twenty teams par- ticipated. Congratula- tions to Harold and Roy for winning first place. Harold and Eileen and Roy and Edith were among the 1500 who at- tended the Banquet on Friday evening which was held at the Police Academy in Aylmer. On the way home on Satur- day they were evening dinner guests of Denis and Jo McLaughlin and Aaron in Mississauga. Helen and Stuart Dor- rell, Annie and Lisa of Charlton were overnight guests of Harold and Eileen McLaughlin and Mrs. Elva Toms. Helen remained for a few days visiting relatives. Lisa will be leaving on Oc- tober 26 for a job in New Zealand. Last week's card par- ty winners were 1. Rhoda Larmer - 85, 2. Mary Poots - 82; 3. Doris Evans - 78; 4. Carol Gimblett - 75; 5. Harold Swain - 78; 4 Nerta Masters - 77, 5. Lloyd Fawns - 77; 6 Margaret Wright - 75. Draws were won by Doris Rohrer, Albert Watts and Edna Larmer. McLaughlin Family Picnic The 35th annual McLaughlin Picnic was held on Sunday September 15 at the home of Ted and Mary McLaughlin, Fenelon Falls Their spacious home and lawns made a perfect setting for over 50 descendants of Han- nah Marlow, 1835-1902 and Willhlam McLaughhn 1826-1907 who had gathered for the event on a simply beautiful day Lawrence MclLaughhn thanked Ted and Mary and offered Grace after ~hich old and young en joyed a hot and cold buf fet During the afternoon hasti-notes were written to Elaine Allison in Ed monton who up-dated the McLaughlin record in 1983 Games and contests were conducted by Kelly GGatchell and Linda Bradburn The following were some of the winners PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, Sept. 24, 1985 -- 31 - Husband calling - Mrs. Anson Taylor. oldest coin in purse or pocket: Edith McLaughhn, longest run in nylons - Carole DeGroseilhers, oldest person present : Mrs. Alma Taylor; weight of watermelon - Barbara Graham, youngest baby - Rachel Vice, jar of licorice - Paul McLaughhn. After a snack of buttered corn prepared by Ted in his open antique kettle good- byes were said to bring to a close a perfect day Debbie VanCamp is in her first year of a two year business course at Durham College. Church activities are resuming after the sum- mer break. Sunday School has started with Judy Gilbank as superintendent at the United Church. Last Sun- day our candidate Doreen VanCamp par- ticipated in the Worship Service. She told of some of her experiences while at her summer place- ment in Northern Ont. This past Sunday the stu- dent minister Verna Win- drem who will be work- ing with the congregation until next April was in- troduced and welcomed. In the evening the Youth Group Hayride and Weiner Roast took place from the home of Brent McLaughlin. After the ride through Cadmus and area on the wagon and tractor driven by Lawrence McLaughlin, the twenty young people and their leaders enjoyed a weiner and mar- shmellow roast. The evening concluded with a sing song. At the Cartwright High School two new teachers are busy with their duties - Mr. Tumey 1s teaching Sciences and Miss Kesseler 1s the new French teacher At the Cartwright Central Public School Mr H.
