Mrs. Woodcroft is running for one of four seats to represent Separate School supporters in the Whitby- Brooklin and Scugog Township Tom Oldman of Whitby has an- nounced that he will be seeking elec- tion to the Durham Separate School Board to represent people in the Brooklin, Scugog and Whitby areas. Mr. Oldman and his wife Judi have five children and are members of the St. John Parish in Whitby. In making his announcement to seek a seat on the Separate Board, Mr. Oldman issued the following statement: 'Our children will build the future. We as parents have a stake in education of each other's children. We can supply the tools to build a better future. As an elected trustee, I will exercise this steward- ship on behalf of the community in Port Perry, Brooklin and Whitby areas." In announcing her intention to seek re-election, Mrs. Woodcroft told the Star she has served on numerous Board committees, in- cluding the Partners Committee at Dennis O'Connor High School for the past two years. She said she is very familiar with the needs and problems of schools in the Whitby-Port Perry areas, and will continue to work for the educa- tional needs of the students. in- cluding a Catholic High School. "As a Catholic student, teacher and trustee, | have worked hard for government funded Separate school education for Junior Kindergarten to grade 13 and want to continue to be involved in the extension pro- cess," she told the Star. Three new members for Seniors The Senior Citizens held their regular meeting on Wednesday 25th. The President opened the meeting. It was a good attendance. We had three new members. After the sing- ing of O'Canada, general business was discussed. After which a very good report of the U.S.C.O. Conven- tion was given by Marjorie McCoombe. There is a euchre Wednesday, October 2, 1:30 at the Latcham Centre. The rest of the afternoon was spent playing cards, followed at 5:30 by a Pot Luck supper. Again some stayed for the evening playing cards. All in all it was a good after- noon and evening.
