The children are asked to bring something that they are thankful for to decorate the church. It was a pleasure this past Sunday to have Misses Sally Irvine, Karen Skelding and Lisa Taylor sing for the congregation. Be reminded of the euchre in the Hall this Friday at 8 p.m. Mervyn and Barbara Murphy of Scarborough visited with her sister Irene and Earl Fielding on Satur- day. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Murphy and baby, Sarah, accompanied them. Best wishes to Marie (Gray) and Murray Geer on their recent marriage. We have another baby girl for the village (this seems to be the year for the girls). Congratulations to Mitch and Donna Newbold on the arrival of a baby girl named Kristy. Birthday congratulations to Kevin Carre who was 10 years old last Thursday and to Miss Laura Carre who will be 8 years old this Satur- day. Mr. and Mrs. John Carre of Bridgenorth were Saturday guests with the Eric Carre family. Mrs. Eileen Slute has recently returned from a very enjoyable 4 day trip with the Agawa Canyon Tour. Sunday supper guests with the Slutes were son Bill, Debbie, Jeffrey and Corey. Mildred Thompson was a Sunday dinner guest with Mr. and Mrs. Murry Kirton of Mount Albert. Mrs. Evelyn Bray of Whitby and her mother, Mrs. Eva Sutcliffe, visited with Ken and Betty Sheehy of Little Britain on the weekend. Japanese visitors over for party Epsom and Area News by Jean Jeffrey Keith and Anne Wilson, Dawn and David of Aurora, also their guest, Mrs. Yoshiko Fanato of Japan, were Sunday dinner guests with Elmer and Ruth Wilson and called on Doug and Beth Wilson. Don and Stella Asling visited with her sister Elsie Garrell in Lindsay on Sunday and she accompanied them to Eden Church, north of Oakwood, where Donald delivered the message. Mr. John James of Toronto was a guest at the Baster home on Satur- day evening. Immanuel College Students and several professors enjoyed their visit to our area. They visited the Ashton Dairy Farm, also the Postma Chicken Farm. They visited Epsom-Utica-Goodwood United Church Charge. Friday evening a pot luck supper and square dance was held in Utica Hall which all seemed to enjoy. Before leaving for Toronto the ladies to the three con- gregations served a bountiful lunch at Goodwood Church. Allen and Joyce Ashton and fami- ly of Oakwood were Sunday visitors with Ruth and Howard Ashton. Earl and Marie Wilson, Lois and Harry Elford had Sunday lunch with Marie and Lois's mother, Mrs. W.O. Simpson. Heron The Ashburn group of the W.M.S. met on Monday evening of last week at the home of Chrissy McKinney. The President, Bernice Gardner, opened the meeting with a lovely Thanksgiving worship period. The program for the evening was given by Nellie Hopkins who told the story from the book, *'I heard the owl call my name,'"' which tied in with this years study. The bus and boat trip to the Bracebridge area last week was en- joyed by all who went. There are two more bus trips coming up - one to Perth-Tanarck area and one to the craft show at Exhibition Park. These are in November. More infor- mation later. A lovely miscellaneous shower was held last Friday evening to honour Andrea Worfolk and Danny Johnston. The happy couple receiv- ed lovely and useful gifts and we wish them many happy years in their married life. October 20th at 11:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. is Burns Church anniver- sary. With Rev. Dr. Alec Calder as guest speaker for both services, there will be special music with St. Andrews Youth Choir from Scar- borough singing in the evening. Everyone is cordially invited.
