Ave Ae ca Scugog island Area News by Mrs. Earl Reader Saturday morning the boys were out bright and early with their well polished apples and now wish to thank everyone for the co-operation and welcome they received. Now they are looking forward to next Saturday which they hope wili not be wet and cause a weeks postpone- ment for their paper collection. This is the day, when parents co-operate too by supplying trucks and drivers. We hope no roads including 7A will be missed. All week too there will be much planning and excitement for costumes to be worn at the dance on Blackstock (From page 26) and Marg Bryans and boys who hosted a beef barbecue for about 30 members. Bob's dad, Jim Bryans, of Caressant Care, Lindsay, celebrated his 89th birthday also. Nancy and Bob Bryans stayed at the cottage over the weekend and at- tended a pig roast there at the home of their friends Jean and Henry Chafe. On Friday the Cartwright High School students held their annual bottle drive and also took orders for the citrus fruit they are selling. If you were missed and wish either to donate bottles or order fruit, or buy year books, for 1984-85, that are now available, call the school. The Senior Citizens recently held their annual meeting along with a pot luck dinner. After the delicious dinner enjoyed by the good number of members the following slate of of- ficers was elected. If you en- joy an evening of playing euchre, plan to attend one of these weekly parties that begin at 8 p.m. each Tuesday evening at the Town Hall. You will be glad you did. On Sunday evening the Youth Group sponsored a Travelogue when Brian VanCamp showed his excellent slides and told of some of his experiences during his year long Rotary exchange to Sweden. Brian also showed slides of his trip through Europe which a group of eighty Rotary students enjoyed before returning home. The fine crowd very much enjoyed the even- ing with Brian. On Friday evening the Bryans family helped Patti celebrate her birthday with supper at Conway Place. Those attending were Deb. Gord and Leanne Bryans, Nancy and Bob Bryans and Rick Alpe. Happy Birthday Patti. VOTE FOR MY POP! He needs work! -- Lisa Scott Saturday night. We trust you have phoned Norma Tower 985-2673 for your reserve tickets as the Hall will just accommodate a certain number of people. This is their big project to provide funds to carry the Scout pro- gram thro' the Fall and Winter. While the boys and parents are making their plans, the women of the "Grace" UCW are planning another of their noted euchre parties and bake sales at the Community Hall this Wednesday evening Oc- tober 23 at 8 p.m. There are lots of new babies in the community and it may be that the parents would like to have them baptized at the United Church on Sunday, October 27. If so, please | Paper collection Saturday contact Rev. Robinson. While you have your dancing shoes out for the Hallowe'en dance, you may as well consider using them for the Hospital Dance the next Saturday, November 2 when the ladies hope to raise $11,000 in some way for an Infant Bassinette Resuscitator. Therefore, you can help by calling Camille Crozier 985-2644 or Pat Taylor 985-8578 for tickets. Yes, you know the Island United needs money to get Jim busy with his brush on that thermometer but you may not have much. But you do have some talent and can type with more than one finger like me and have Friday mornings free. If so, Rev. Robinson would love to have a call from you 985-9343 as he is already swamped with respon- sibilities and we sure do appreciate those bulletins. On November 12th Vote ...
