Carl and Dale Muirhead, Chad and Christa of Scugog Point, spent a portion of the Thanksgiving weekend with Carl's parents, Or- ville and Grace Muirhead, at their summer home at Bancroft. On Mon- day, they enjoyed a visit with Dale's parents, Melvin and Alice Tapscott of Agincourt. A very interesting weekend! John and Linda Arbuckle, Jen- nifer, Colleen and Marilynn of Nestleton, were guests over the holi- day weekend with Linda's grand- mother, Mrs. Syndey Ostler of Burk's Falls. So good to see her - and a gorgeous, colorful drive as well. o Glenn and Arlene Malcolm, Heather, Alison and Erin, Nestleton, hosted a Thanksgiving dinner on Monday at Malco Farms. Present were his parents, Lawrence and Gv'en Malcolm, Nestleton, Grandpa Stanley Malcolm and Gail of Port Perry, Barry and Joan Malcolm, Simcoe, Dennis and Laina Malcolm, and family, Ajax, and David and Joanne Malcolm and family, Nestleton. This was also a birthday celebration for Erin and Glenn. Very best wishes to those celebrating! A nice gathering for the family. The Thanksgiving meeting was held in the church, Tuesday, Oc- tober 15, with Unit Leader Jean Williams presiding - opening with a "Thanksgiving Day Prayer' follow- ed by Hymn, "'Sing To the Lord of the Harvest." Doris Rohrer acted as Secretary. Roll call was answered by a favourite Psalm. During wor- ship Irene McKee read the Scripture and Neta Fish presented the devo- tional and Topic - closing with sing- ing "The 23rd Psalm.' During cor- respondence cards were signed for three church members who have been poorly. Business After a letter was read by Elizabeth Fulford re an appeal for funds for the Handi-Transit van - a motion carried that $25.00 be sent to ~ this worthy cause. A thank you note and a generous donation was rec'd from George and Ella Bowers for catering at their 60th wedding an- niversary just recently. A motion was carried to order 35 church calendars. Treas. Neta Fish gave a most satisfactory report of our sav- ings. On Sunday, October 27, 2:30 p.m. the fall anniversary of Nestleton United Church will be celebrated. Rev. Harry Atkinson is _the guest speaker with Port Perry Senior Choir rendering special music. Anniversary cake, coffee, tea, etc. will be served after the ser- vice by the U.C.W. Programme A most enlightening Skit entitled, "A Nation of Shut-ins"' was acted out by Jean Williams and Mabel Cawker giving an indepth look into the Missionary work in Latin America. Irene McKee told a real story about all the good things on the farm in keeping with the Thanksgiv- ing theme. The programme closed by all singing "Thank You, Lord," to the tune of Edelweiss - Gwen Malcolm at the piano. Mizpah Benediction followed. Tea was serv- ed by Neta and Irene - a delicious assortment of goodies! Gwen ex- pressed the appreciation. Re-Union Enjoyed Neta Fish, Nestleton, entertained two old school chums recently at her home. Miss Kathleen Hicks of Toronto spent a couple of days with her, and Mrs. Edna Coad of Oakwood an afternoon. What a great time they had catching up on news over the forty years or so - since the school days. A nostalgic meeting to be sure! Next week as usual, for an evening of fun and a social hour. The Churches On Sunday, Ogtober 20, Ina Davis and family were greeters at Nestleton United Church. Rev. Dale Davis conducted the service. Arthur Weir read the Scripture and Student Minister Verna Windrem had a story for the S.School and presented the message entitled 'Three Por- traits of Servanthood." The Choir sang 'Bringing in the Sheaves' with Muriel Wheeler taking the solo part - the congregation joined in the chorus. Norm and Bernice made a presentation of Hymn books to the church in memory of Norm's parents - Eli and Ada Mairs. Floral arrangements from the Wright family in memory of Don was ap- preciated. A paper drive will be held the first Saturday of every month bundled and left at the road gateway for rural areas.
