10 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday. December 10, 1985 Ultimate Christmas gift ideas cost more by Cathy Robb Diamonds are always fine Big rocks always impress me the most and I've been thinking how nicely five solitaire earrings would sit in the holes in my head. So buy me diamonds for Christmas if you can't think of anything else. Or a new Ferrari would tickle my fancy. As would a fur coat or a cheque for about a thousand dollars (I would have ask- ed for a million but I'm not that greedy I just want to pay my bills) Actually anything that costs a lot would be received with good grace this holiday season. Since I've done a few photographs on 'ultimate SR RA RUA RA RA RL RE REE RR SCOTCH PINE ONLY (Long Needles) Location: CANADIAN TIRE STORE -- PORT PERRY PLAZA -- SALE OF TREES STARTS: Wed., December 4th at 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday ............ Know what | mean" How about you? If you could have anything you want for Christmas, anything at all (price is no object whatsoever), what would you like" When | asked that question to a few folks about town, they couldn't come up with anything right away A few said they'd like money (how boring), and a few more thought they might like to get away from it all for awhile, but nobody had any real ideas of what they consider to be "the ultimate Christmas present." An idealist told me world peace would be the ulimate and a guy who pays too much rent said a house of his own would be ultimately satisfy- ing. But again, nobody but me had any grandiose ideas. When you think of it, there are a fair amount of ritzy gift ideas to be found right here in Port Perry. Just take a look around at the local gift stores and you can be assured of that. Or take a look at your favourite car dealership. How would a new Corvette from Dennis Anderson Chev/Olds sit with you? Dennis has shown me a jet black beauty that does everything KITT does and more. At $36,000, you could fill your garage with one in each colour. Maybe a Fiero or a Park Avenue 1s more your style. Or maybe a spif- fy new Laser. If you've got a bank account full of dough and your bud- dy needs a new set of wheels, look around. Guaranteed, you'll find something you like. For that special woman in your life ceven if she is you), consider the time-honoured romantic gift of jewellery. Like I said, diamonds are terrific and forever, but pearls, rubies, sapphires and just plain gold are always appreciated. If you happen to get something youdon't appreciate in the jewellery line, you can always give it to me and I'll appreciate it for you. Fur coats are okay, but they're more common than starlings at a crow convention. Why not try something a little different, a little more daring, like the amazing knit- ted fur coats created by Paula Lishman in her Blackstock studio. They're expensive, yes, but money is no object, remember? Of course I remember. And for the rest of us, next week I'll do a story on Christmas gifts under a dollar.
