Two minutes into the first period Port opened up the scoring with Darren Caudle receiving a pass from Todd Poppleton and Dave Ir- vine, who quickly put the puck behind the Uxbridge goalie. Not shortly after this Uxbridge tied it up. Larry Collins fed Blair Bailey the puck who notched our second goal and that got things rolling. Port Perry then got seven unanswered goals before the end of the second period to make the score 9-1. Unassisted goals in the second period were scored by Dave Irvine and Kevin Gibson. Assisted goals were scored by Derek Fitzgerald, Kevin Gibson (Hat trick!!) and the assists went to Mark Elliot, John Lally, Larry Collins, Matt Durward, Rob Brown with 2 and Derek Fit- zgerald with 2. Uxbridge got their second goal very early into the third period With eight minutes left in the game, Mark Elliot got Port's final goal of the eveing to make it 10-2. Assists on the play went to Derek Fitzgerald and Matt Durward. The following Saturday we travelled to Ajax for a much closer game! At the 6:44 mark of the first period Port Perry wen on the power play. Derek Fitzgerald received a pass from Dave Irvine who then relayed it to Paul Wylie in front of the net who put it upstairs for Port's first goal. Rob Brown put the puck behind Ajax's goalie for the second goal with the assist going to Derek Fitzgerals. On Port's second power play Paul Wylie scored his second goal with a pass from Derek Fit- zgerald and, Dave Irvine At this point we were in the lead 3-0 and we started to sit back an our lead Ajax used this opportunity very effective ly and took the lead with four goals with the last coming at the start of the third period. Port reached down for that extra little something to score two more times. Dave Irvine put the first goal of the two in the net with Derek Fitzgerald getting his fourth assist of the evening and Paul Allen his first. The second goal was by Blair Bailey with Kevin Gibson and Mark Elliot receiving the assists. After this, Port was leading 5-4. Ajax scored with a minute and a half left in the game to tie it up, 5-5. Both Rick King and Chris McCon- nell played an excellent game each. Rick against Uxbridge and Chris against Ajax.
