Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening the Island choir with friends from Whitby, Seagrave, Port Perry and Cartwright presented a very fine musical concert in the Com- munity Hall. Thurs. was Seniors night when Freemans took their bus to the Villa, put in 10 wheel chairs and then helped the patients in, as well as the other residents who cared to attend. Friday was a regular concert "night. Sat. was the highlight when a capacity crowd first enjoyed a turkey dinner and then sat back to enjoy the concert. But that was not the end as many enjoyed a social time with extra lunch. We know these people enjoy their hours of practice. But as we meditate on it, we must take a mo- ment, to express appreciation for the time, work and planning that takes place in preparation and again we note the efforts and work by Ethel and George Freeman to plan pleasure and enjoyment for the peo- ple of their Community and the peo- ple who assist them year by year. Every week new people are welcomed to the Island United where there are interests for all ages. The Coffee Hours are becoming increasingly beneficial. Many children are attending with their parents. So it has been decided to hire a babysitter for that hour and a half at the Community hall and she wil be paid according to the number of children in her care. If you are interested, please contact Madeline Cawker 985-7461. This coming Friday the ladies of the "Head" UCW will assist the Can. Imperial Bank of Com nerce in of- fering treats to their customers. The weekend will be .. busy one with the S.S. rehearsal on Sat. mor- ning at 10 a.m. in preparation for the Sun. concert at 1:30 p.m. At 7:30 p.m. we're invited to church again when the Senior Choir with special invited guests will give an evening of music. Light lunch will follow the concert. Proceeds will go towards the building fund. On Tuesday evening Dec. 17 the Four Tunettes and any others wishing to join in will meet at the Nursing Home at 7:45 p.m. where they will sing Carols. From there they will (weather permitting) travel to the homes of shut ins to sing more Carols. So you may just find them near your home sometime after 8 p.m. Wed. evening there will be Bible Study at the Island Church. This Wed. Stewards, don't forget to meet at the Scugog United at 8 p.m. So far, no one has phoned to offer help to Betty Ann Freeman in mak- ing her 1985 receipts etc. Have you thought about it"?
