26 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, December 17, 1985 On Wednesday, December 11, the Sportsland Bantams hosted the strong skating Markham team. Markham came out on top by a 6-2 score. This evened the season series between these 2 teams at 2 wins each. John Lally scored both of Port's goals by picking up a Kevin Gibson rebound. Larry Collins also Close one by Petites On Saturday, December 14, the Bruton's I.D.A. Petites travelled to Iroquois Park to meet the Whitby team and were successful in bring- ing home a 7-6 victory. The girls came out strong and were soon leading 4-0 but they seemed to slack off for a while. By the end of the first period the score was 5-2 for us. Scor- ing for us were Denna Lovering 6 goals and Kelly Menzies 1 goal. Assists were credited to Lyndsay Dutkewich and Amy Parliament 2 each; Jennifer Morden, Shannon Fox and Kim Finley 1 each. Anything less will result in a loss. On Sunday, December 15, Port travelled to Uxbridge to face a determined Uxbridge team. Port played a solid game and came out on top of a 3-0 score. Darrin Caudle opened the scoring in a scramble in front of the net, David Irvine pick- ed up the assist - Irvine scored the second goal after winning a faceoff in the Uxbridge end. Matt Phoenix finished off the scoring with his first goal of the season. This was also an unassisted effort as Matt took the puck from one end of the ice to the other. Port totally outplayed their opposition but didn't have any luck around the net, only scoring 3 goals. Chris McConnell picked up his se- cond shutout of the year for the Port Bantams. Sportsland Bantams host a strong Whitby club on Wednesday night in the final league game before the New Year. The team will be busy during the holidays with 3 tour- naments, December 21 in Havelock; December 27 in Port Perry; and December 28 in Lindsay.
