'4 52 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, December 17, 1985 THE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS YIts Christmas again, The best time of year, Turkey, Cranberries And gift giving here. In places less fortunate, No presents at all. For boys not a game, For girls not a doll. Fighting countries call truces, So no one will die. But why not the whole year, It's worth a good try. If each family, each home, Had the joy that we share, Then the meaning of Christmas Would be much stronger there. by Ron Rankin, Class 71, R.H. Cornish. THE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS When I was young I could hardly wait for Christmas day because I always enjoyed getting lots of presents and travelling to see my relatives and getting more presents. Today 1 still enjoy getting presents, but I feel different about Christmas. | respect it more. To me, Christmas is a time for getting reac- quainted with my relatives and eating my Grandma's delicious homemade buns. 1 still love Christmas, but now I love it even more because it means more to me. I'll always love Christmas. Carla McMillan, Grade Seven, Class 73, R.H. Cornish P.S. © HappycHolidays CHRIS ALLEN ALUMINUM THE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS The meaning of Christmas to me is a day of peace and joy to celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ. ' I like receiving all of the beautiful presents, and having a great big turkey dinner. But I pe y think the main part of Christmas is to remember Jesus Christ. Some people think it is just the presents, and dinner that makes Christmas. Those people I think are just thinking of themselves and not remembering that Jesus Christ died on the cross for us. I sure am look- ing forward to this Christmas and I will always think of Jesus Christ who died for our sins. I hope Santa is good to all you lit- tle boys and girls out there. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. by Jeff Parry, Class 73, Grade 7, R.H. Cornish P.S. THE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS Make the world a better place No more sickness, war or waste Bring joy to every human face Bring joy to the human race Some places kids are hungry Some kids have lots to eat Some kids are strong and healthy Some kids are sick and weak It's not fair that some kids have While other kids have not So help me please give those who doti't have Some of the things I've got. by Tammy Zaparanuik, Grade 7, Immaculate Conception School. Festive greetings are coming your way, along with our heartfelt thanks. Mike, Rob and staff Jolly Santa's near, bringing lots of cheer! May his hearty spirit light your holiday! JAMES RANKIN ELECTRIC Jim and Family ~The Meaning of Christmas THE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS Let us travel back in time, Where food was only a penny or dime. This is why we celebrate Christmas today, Every December 25th day. Joseph and Mary came to Bethlehem one night, She was having a child but no room was in sight. They found a little place -- a stable all forlorn, For in a manger, Mary's child was born. This child was Jesus Christ they say, For he was born in a manger on Christmas Day. Christmas is a time for giving, For happiness, joy and singing. It is a time we all share together, Peace and spirit but not the weather. Our hearts open up and warm one another, Our friends, our family and each other. So now every year we celebrate Christmas Day, But really it's 'Jesus' Birthday" we should say. Pamela Chatten, Class 72, R.H. Cornish. THE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS The meaning of Christmas, Is easy for me I just think of the things Which I love to see. A small bungalow, Nestled deep in the snow, And snow in the air, Makes a very pretty show. It's getting a tree, And trimming it too It's getting gifts, But giving them too... My family, my friends, But most of all, It's baby Jesus being born On Christmas and all. Megan Chellew, Class 72, R.H. Cornish.
