Take special care if bringing planthome Whe you spot a plant you'd like to have in your home -- proceed with caution, says Ruth Friendship, rural organizations co-ordinator (hor- ticulture) with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food's rural organizations and services branch. Check the plant over. Look at the upper and especially the lower leaf surfaces and along the stems for signs of pests or disease. Do not accept diseased or infested plants because these problems will spread to your other indoor plants. plants should be isolated (quaran- tined) for a few days from your other plans to make sure the new ad- - dition is problem-free. The same warnings apply when you bring your plants indoors after a summer vacation-outdoors.
