Unit Meets An interesting meeting of the evening unit (U.C.W.) was held January 22 at the home of Joanna Malcolm with 8 members present. Unit Leader Arlene Malcolm open: ed and presented the worship, "Let God take you by the hand"...a poem...and Psalm 147; verse 4, led up to a reading on "Stars."' A love- ly hymn, "For the beauty of the earth" closed the inspiring worship period. Under the business ses- sion...minutes were approved as read by Sec'y Betty Headon and dur- ing correspondence many thank you notes were rec'd. The evening U.C.W. are serving at the Junior Farmer's Banquet on February 22, 1986. A dessert luncheon and "mini" fashion show to be a feature of in- terest for April 15, 1986, the fashions presented by Dor-Jean of Port Perry. Both Units of the U.C.W. are participating in this money raising venture. May 2nd is the date set for the annual Smorgasbord to be held in Nestleton Community Centre. The members were reminded of the Council meeting on Feb. 19. The evening Unit are helping out at the Port Perry Community Nursing Home... to be advised of the date later. Verna Windrem, student minister spoke to the Unit about the World Day of Prayer to be held Fri- day, March 7, in Nestleton Church. The evening Unit...with Verna as 'Narrator are presenting a play for this special occasion. Under Leader Arlene Malcolm and Sec'y Betty Headon have com- pleted their terms of office and retired. The new slate is as follows: Unit Leader - Kay Notman; Assis-- tant Leader - Joyce Johns; Secretary - Barb Weir; Treasurer - Ina Davis and Social Convener - Joanne Malcolm. Joanne...the...charming hostess...served a most tempting lunch and fellowship was enjoyed. Caesarea Euchre Party All Perms include Cut & Styling At the weekly Euchre party held Wed. Jan. 22, 8 p.m. at the Caesarea Centre, the following winners are to be congratulated. First prize - Kathleen Watt - 82; Second prize - Ross Keeler - 81. Low Score - Glen- na Dean - 51. A better attendance "and a fine time for all. Again - next Wed. evening for more exciting games of Euchre! Nestleton United Church On a mild Sunday morning, Jan. 26, 11:15 a.m. an average congrega- tion for the service. Ralph and Leona Sadler were the friendly greeters at the door, with Claire MacKenzie, Ken Weir and Arlene Malcolm in charge of the nursery. The Sunday School sang a pleasing number entitled "In His World" with Janice MacKenzie leading and Bet- ty Headon at the piano. Rev. Dale Davis chose as. his sermon topic, "Partners Working To-gether." Stu- dent minister Verna Windrem assisted throughout the worship and the rousing hymn, "Onward Joyful Christians" closed the fine service organist - Gwen Malcolm. The after- noon Unit of the Nestleton U.C.W. 'will meet at the home of Jean Williams in Nestleton Village, on Tuesday February 11, at 1:30 p.m. A good attendance is hoped for. - Cartwright Cubs and Scouts Project (Reminder) The Boy Scouts paper drive is the first Saturday in the month - this coming Sat. have your papers bundl- ed and at your driveway for pickup. Mark your calendar for Feb. 1st - please! This is a great help to the Scouts with their many projects to raise funds to further their work. Family News ~ Calvin and Yvonne Holland and family of Bowmanville were Satur- day guests with his mother Mrs. Neta Fish of Nestleton. Neta spent a portion of the weekend with the Hollands in Bowmanville. Our get well greetings to folks who * pre shut-ins, disabled and ill. The *$2.00 extra for Tony prevalent Flu is making its rounds. Best wishes to George Bowers of Nestleton who has been hospitalized for approximately ten days --- and is now home recuperating, under the watchful eye of his wife, Ella. Crawford conducted the service. Rev. Charles Clarke, Port Perry, preached and used as his sermon theme, 'Seek and Save" taken from Luke 19 - very much enjoyed by the congregation. Organist - Kathleen Watt. The Sunshine Club is meeting in . the new Hall with Jacqueline McDermott directing. Assisting are Owen and Trix Vandstra. The com- mittee is progressing with the Hall.
