Impact on agriculture, food processing and manufacturing Local NDP to host free trade seminar Representatives of the food pro- cessing industry, the farm com- munity, and the manufacturing sec- tor will discuss the implications of free trade on Wednesday, March 5th in Bowmanville. The panel discussion at 7:30 p.m. at Bowmanville High School, will feature supporters of various par- ties, but is sponsored by the Durham-Northumberland New Democrats. One panelist will be Karl Morin- Strom, member of the Ontario Legislature from Sault Ste. Marie. Before his election, Dr. Morin- Strom (who has Ph.D in Mathematics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology) worked as a financial planner at Algoma Steel. He is a specialist in management and corporate finance. Elected last year as a New Democrat MPP for Sault Ste. -larie, Dr. Morin-Strom was one of two New Democrats on the Ontario Legislature committee which held hearings on the free trade issue recently. Another panelist will be Bob Leblanc of Cobourg, who will pre- sent implications for the food pro- cessing industry.
