The best the Eagles could manage in the series was a 2-2 draw against a big, fast skating Napanee squad which may go on to the all-Ontario title. Tweens take the bronze After 4 exciting games the Chris Allen Aluminum Tweens came home with the bronze medal from the 'B' Regional Tournament last weekend. It was a well deserved reward for games well played and good team effort. . In the first game, Mariposa clin- ched the victory with a goal in the second period of sudden death over- time making the final score 7-6. Lisa Levy scored all 6 goals in this first game, Nicole Slack got 4 assists and 1 each went to Sylvia Durward, Nicky Beare, Danielle Cooper and Linda Crawford. The second game was a resoun- ding 12-4 victory against Ajax. Lisa Levy out-did herself with an amaz- ing total of 9 goals. One goal each went to Nicole Slack, Heather Lawrence and Danielle Cooper, 4 assists each went to Nicole Slack, Linda Crawford and Danielle Cooper, 3 to Sylvia Durward and 1 each to Lisa Levy, Christine Mueller and Heather Lawrence. Congratula- tions girls. Against Whitby in the third game of the day, the girls put an extra ef- fort into the play bringing the final score to an 8-7 victory. On Sunday morning our final game was played against Mariposa who squeaked out a 10-9 victory leaving us with the bronze medal. For our first game we met Mariposa and won by a score of 11-6. The girls came out strong and dominated throughout. Scorers in this game were Amy Parliament 4 goals, 3 assists; Denna Lovering 4 goals, 2 assists; Kelly Menzies 1 goal, 5 assists; Lyndsay Dutkewich 2 goals, 3 assists; Christina Hicken 1 assist; Jennifer Morden 3 assists; and Shannon Fox 1 assist. Two of our goals were scored while short- handed. On Sat. March 8, the Bruton's IDA Petites met Whitby in Little Britain Arena and were successful with a 7-4 score. Port came out flying and were up 5-0 at the end of the first period. Scorers in this period were Denna Lovering 2 goals, 2 assists; Kelly Menzies 1 goal; Amy Parlia- ment 2 goals, 1 assist; Christina Hicken and Lyndsay Dutkewich 1 assist each. In the second period the gils seemed to let up for a while and Whitby came back to score 4 goals. Port tallied with 2 more goals to keep us ahead in the game. Denna from Kim Poppleton and then Lynd- say Kutkewich from Shannon fox and Tanya Towns were our scorers in this period. . For our second game of the day we met Pickering and beat them by a score of 8-5. The girls were up for this game and were all playing well with good skating and checking. Tracy in goal made some good stops. Scorers in the first period were Lyndsay Dutkewich 1 goal and Denna Lovering 3 goals. Assists went to Amy Parliament, Shannon Fox, Kim Finley, Jennifer Morden 1 each and Kelly Menzies with 3. The score at the end of the first period was 4-2 for Port. Scorers in the se- cond period were Denna with 2 goals; Lyndsay and Shannon 1 each. Assists went to Amy 3; Lyndsay 2 and Kelly 1. Winning this game automatically puts us in the cham- pionship game against Pickering again after they had beaten Whitby by virtue of goals for and goals against. In our final game of the tourna- ment on Sunday the girls all played well with all checking and skating well. Tracy in goal made some good stops. Pickering got on the scoreboard early but Port came back on a goal by Amy Parliament from Tanya Towns while short- handed tied the game. Denna Lover ing from Kim Finley put us ahead but with a minute left in the first period Pickering tied the game 2-2. Early in the second period Kelly from Kim Finley put us in the lead again and then Denna from Kelly gave us a 2 goal lead. Pickering never let up and were able to tie the game at 4-4. Port kept digging but couldn't put another goal past their goalie. It wasn't from a lack of try- ing! Pickering scored the final goal of the game and won the Regional B championship by a score of 54. Port Perry came home with the silver medals. The girls should all be very proud of themselves as they all played well throughout the tour- nament. Special thanks to our spon- sors for the pins.
