The sympathy of the community is extended to the family of the late Mr. Lewis Johnston who passed away last Friday. Mr. Johnston was a resident of Ashburn much of his life. Continuing his sermon series on Lenten Cameos of Grace, Rev. ~ McEntyre chose as his subject last Sunday morning, "Lydia: The Gospel for the Good", a very thought provoking message. His text was from Acts, Chapter 16, verse 14. Scriptures were read by Lois Daw and Gerald Emm. Next Sunday is Palm Sunday with a special service. Keep in mind the Good Friday service on March 28 at 7:30 p.m. The Bible Class held their monthly meeting last Wednesday evening at the home of Chrissie McKinney, Brooklin. With members sick or on holidays, our attendance was down. President Nellie Hopkins chaired the meeting. The meeting was opened by singing the Easter hymn "Were You There When They Crucified My Lord?" Nellie's meditation was based on this hymn. Margaret Davis led in prayer. Scripture was read by Aldine Wick. Several items of business were dealt with. Florence Ashton was in charge of the study and spoke on the life of Job's wife, one of the unnamed Bi- ble Women. Lovely refreshments were served by our hostess. ~ The Ladies winners for the euchre sn last Thursday evening were: first prize to Jean Hodgins: second ~ prize to Lois Daw. Ladies low prize to Violet Cole. Men's winners were: first prize to Ken Whittington; se- cond prize to Alvin Spencer. Low prize winner Bill Gardner. Verna Draper had the most lone hands. The door prize was won by Jean Johnston. The 50/50 draw 'went to Jean Hodgins. There were six tables of cards played. The next party is Thursday, March 27.
