24 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, March 25, 1986 Results from the House Leagues playoffs IGA- ¢ Cochranes - 2 On Friday night IGA took com- plete control of the game early in the first period and never looked back as they went on to win 6-2 over Cochranes. Just three minutes into the game Gerry Douma stole the puck at cen- tre, and beat the goalie on the low side. Then John Sturman scored after taking a pass from Chris Lavereau, but Cochranes were not to be outdone as they came right back with some nifty passing bet- ween Jon Rodway and Rob Jamieson before Ron Halligan scored for the Horsemen. Only one goal was scored in the second period as both teams turned to the close checking game before Bobby Orr scored from Chris Watson. Rob Jamieson popped the puck in the net after taking a pass from Jon Rodway and Todd Haist. 2-1 after two periods of play for IGA. ' The third period took on a whole new light as both teams came out with fire in their eyes. IGA drew first as Bobby Orr scored from John Sturman and Chris Watson. Then Steve Arm- strong stopped a rush at the blue line, fed a pass to Chris 'I'm doing alright" Watson who in turn passed to Mike Toye and he knew where to put it. Bobby Orr again scored but only after Mike Toye worked the puck in- to the end zone and set up Orr. With less than three minutes re- maining the Trotters pulled their goalkeeper and all heck broke loose as the Trotters pulled out all stops. Ron Halligan scored on a pass from. Jon Rodway thirty one seconds later Rodway scored after Jamieson and Halligan worked the puck into Rod- way who made no mistake. With 31 seconds Rodway again scored with Jamie Mabley and Halligan earning assists. The Trotters again came right back with one. Then Orr dumped the puck out of the end zone. Lavereau passed to Gerry Douma and scored, ending any chance that the Trotters had. Final 6-4 IGA. IGA wins the series and now meets Consumers Gas. Emmerson's - 2 Consumers Gas - 2 When Consumers Gas won the 'opener 4-1 of this series, some peo- ple felt it was all over.'No way Jose.' I know Emmersons and they were not about to roll over and play dead for the Gas Works. che Gassers drew first in period one -- with Chris Menzies blasting a high hard one past Clarke. Greg Free assisted. In period two, Emmersons played hard and checked close as they put pressure on Consumers. Both teams played tight hockey for the rest of the game as it ended 2-2. Game 2 This game was an encore of Fri- day nights as both teams played it hard and tight for the first period -- Clarke and Cobham again showed skill between the pipes at both ends. In the second period the Gas Works got on the score sheet first with Duane Leask scored after tak- ing apass from Chris Menzies and Gary Dowson. Both teams played a close checking game and neither were getting any breaks. It took just 30 seconds with the third period for Emmersons to score and tie the game at 1-1. John Not- tingham put the puck in the net on a pass from Jason Weinhold, then both teams proceeded to check very close, the tough attitude taken by these two teams resulted in some good hockey. But Emmersons had to throw caution to the wind, as they had to win in order to stay off elimination and in turn it backfired as the Gas Works took advantage of the all out offensive trust, and turn- ed it to their side with Darryl Bradt scoring with the assist going to Dar- ryl Slack and Adam Danter. Final score 2-1 Consumers Gas. Now the Gas Works will play the bundle carriers of IGA on Saturday, March 29 at 9:30 a.m. The other two teams -- Cochranes will play Em- mersons at 8:30 a.m. PEE WEE The first game was an exciting see-saw battle between Scala Brothers and Emiel's Place. When it was over Scala Brothers came away with a hard fought 6-5 victory. Leading the way for Scala Brothers was Mike Butt with four goals; Vince Criscione and Donnie Hughes each had singles. Assists to Vince Criscione with two and Don- nie Hughes with one. Emiel's Place scoring was handl- ed by Daryl Dutkewich with two goals; singles by John Collins, Craig Leask and Mark Sheppard. Daryl Dutkewich and Herb Hatch each had assists. The second game saw Larocque Electric and Frank Estate play. In this game Frank Real Estate built up a four goal lead and went on to win 4-1. Frank scoring was done by Heath Hudson, Paul Kett, Cole Perry and David Buxcey. Ken Winslow replied for Larocque Electric assisted by Mark Tomkiewicz. ATOM Swamp - 4 Lions - 1 Swamp Garage kept the dream alive for a playoff position with a 4-1 victory over a hard working Lions Club team. Scoring for the Swamp squad was Todd Smart with two goals, Mike Williams 1 goal and 1 _assist; David Pashley 1 goal and Chad Venning 1 assist. Replying for the Lions Club was Darren Hope assisted by Kevin Pierce and Mike Olaisen. Goalies were Greg Rankin for Swamp and Steven Stiles for Lions. UAW - 1 Tripp - 1 Hard work and excellent goalten- ding by UAW's Dan Bycock and Tripp's Craig Dale produced an ex- citing 1-1 game. Scoring for UAW was Jeff Kemp unassisted and for Tripp Mark Cosway unassisted. Scugog - 9 VanCamp - 3 A strong team effort and an ex- cellent scoring performance by Jeremy Woodcock led Scugog to a 9-3 victory over VanCamp. Scoring - for Scugog was Jeremy Woodcock with 5 goals and 1 assist; Bill San- diford with three goals; Rob MacEachern with 1 goal; Mike Pugh with 1 assist; Wade Sheedy with 1 assist and Robin Brown 1 assist. Scoring for VanCamp was Brandon Agnew 1 goal, 1 assist; Mike Hepburn 1 goal; Robert Romano 1 goal, Steve Slade 1 assist and Scott Wylie 1 assist. Scugog Grace UCW plans beef supper The March meeting was held at the home of Mrs. R. Cawker. Presi- dent Barbara Bischop chaired the meeting. The roll call was answered by ten members. The devotional was a bible study led by Madeline Cawker - taken from John 4- 1-15. Minutes of last meeting read and adopted. Members were reminded of many activities such as: April 2 - Beef Sup- per; April 15 - Women in Distress - Oshawa in North Minister Church; April 26 - Hospital Spring Fair - 2 to 4 at Latcham Centre - members are asked to bring articles for this to April meeting which will be April 9th at Camille Croziers'; and May 17 - a huge bake sale, watch for details.
