Joining them were Mother Ev- va Davidge and Bernice; Al and Susan Smitko, Elizabeth, Katie and Andrea of Unionville and Jim Davidge of Willowdale. Ralph and Leona Sadler, Richard and Janice MacKenzie, Claire and Leslie of Nestleton had a lovely Easter celebration on Monday with lan and Gloris Scott, Charles and Jennifer of Corbyville. John and Marion Hall of Port Perry and Williams Point, hosted their family for Easter. Those pre- sent for the occasion were: Bob and Carolyn Hall, Rebecca and Rachael, Port Perry and Bill Hall and boys, Chris and Michael of Ajax (wife Lorraine was working and couldn't attend). A good friend Margaret Duncan of Whitby was also a guest. Minnie Fisher, Caesarea, had a very enjoyable Easter weekend with son Barry and Frances Fisher, Leanne and Susan in London from Friday to Sunday. She accompanied her grandson Scott Fisher of West Hill to London and came home with Barry and Frances and Susan. A delicious evening meal was par- taken of at the Flying Dutchman in Bowmanville on the way home. An interesting two days! Grant and Helen Campbell, Nestleton, had their family with them for Easter which included .. Bruce and Karen Williamson, Christopher and Heather of Brant- ford, Rick and Sharylyn Campbell, Alica and Derrick of Port Perry, and Rod and Debbie Campbell and Sheena of Ajax. A fine get-together! Edgar and Anne Emerson held an enjoyable Easter for members of their family at the farm home, Nestleton. Walter and Irma Welts family were with them for Easter ... those attending were Ron and Barbara Pereman and Lisa, Port Perry; and ~ Rayner and Kathy Welts, Nicole and Matthew of Nestleton. Nestleton General UCW Meeting With the evening Unit in charge, the meeting was held in Nestleton United Church, Wednesday, April 2, 7:30 p.m. The general president Mrs. Gwen Malcolm brought the meeting to order extending cordial welcome and hymn .. "Can a little child like me" was sung and an in- teresting reading re "house clean- ing' was given. Leader of the Even- ing Unit Kay Notman in charge of devotions read I Peter, Chapter 2: 17-25 and closed with a poem entitl- ed, "I see His blood upon the Rose"' in keeping with the period following Easter During the business portion Sec'y Joanna Malcolm read the minutes of the last general meeting and Neta Fish gave the statement of the Treasurer. Leona Sadler reported re the Social Committee on supplies for upcoming money raising projects. Items were pretty well finalized. The guest speaker for the evening was Anita Davis. Firstly... was read by Janice MacKenzie and Arlene Malcolm taken from Ephe- sians .. Anita closed with a Prayer. Her topic dealt with "Family Violence' a topic .. ever before us! She presented a comprehensive, in- depth look into the problems facing Society today. Family Violence was well examined.. a broad look was taken at the issue of wife bat- tering .. child abuse... the constant strife in families... and what is the answer? Three films were shown. After each showing members divid- ed into groups discussed the issue at some length. What can be done by Society .. the Church ... by you? What would you do if you found yourself in the same situation? Where would you go for help? We hear so much in the news about violence today. Anita's talk was a most informative presentation ... we do thank her so very much! After closing with the Mizpah Benediction the Unit served a love- ly variety of tasty food ... tea and coffee. Neta Fish extended the ap- preciation to one and all who made the evening special and to our good friend, Anita for sharing this pro- gramme with us. Family Interests John and Linda Arbuckle, Jen- nifer, Colleen and Marilynn of Nestleton spent the Easter weekend with John's brother... Dr. and Mrs. Harold Albucite at Thamesford. On Easter Monday, they had supper with grandparents Mervin and Lillian Knapp at their home at Vanstra. This past Friday evening 'the Arbuckles attended the 40th wedding anniversary of aunt and uncle Ben and Thelma Howlett of Little Britain. Lawrence and Gwen Malcolm of Nestleton, were pleased to have their niece Michelle Millet of Cor- nwall as a Sunday supper and over- night guest. Michelle visited her grandfather Stanley Malcolm in Port Perry Community Hospital and cousins and other family members in the area. A group of cousins, Mrs. Neta Fish, Nestleton, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Teel, Oakwood, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mark and Mr. Wm. Mark of Lindsay 'went to Alliston this past week ... to have a visit with two more cousins. Mrs. Chuck Kingsbury, Alliston and Mrs. Blanche Harris .. a sister .. of Alhamba, Alberta, who was spen- ding a few days there. What a great once in a lifetime get-to-gether for the eight cousins! Don and Norma Frew, Nestleton, are home from Lakeland, Florida, after a very nice winter with perfect weather. They golfed a good deal and took part in many other in- teresting activities... never a dull moment! We do welcome them home! Afternoon tea guests with Sam and Mabel Cawker on Tuesday last, were Chris Davis of Scugog Point Rd, her mother Christina Hender- son, Edinburgh, Scotland, and Neta Fish, Nestleton. A return visit _.. Sam, Mabel and Neta were dinner guests with the Davis' family on Sunday evening .... and helped Cliff celebrate his birthday. His wife Chris and sons Scott and Carl had a lovely party for him including a bir- thday cake complete with all the trimmings. Our warmest wishes to Cliff for many more happy occa- sions. So good to have these visits with friend Christina Henderson. Sorry to see her leave for home ... soon now. Lions Club News Susan Kyte, Cartwright Central Public School, Grade 6 student ... competed in the District final Lions public s ing contest held at Stouffville last Wed. evening and rec'd honourable mention. She wasn't in the top three.. but did very well indeed! She had stiff competi- tion ..the winner was a Grade 8 stu- dent. Our congratulations to Susan for a fine effort. The Lions Club is having its fifth Charter anniversary dinner and dance on Sat. evening, April 12. For tickets call Mike Dearborn 966-4664.
