Season finale for Port Perry Club Magic in the air at Skating Carnival | Friday and Saturday evenings were magic at the Scugog Arena as Port Perry Figure Skating Club presented its twenty-eighth annual ice review. The presentation con- sisted of five scenes: Abra-ca- dabra; Wishes and Luck; Space Magic; Mystical Spells and Black Magic. About 120 skaters par- ticipated, twenty-one of them as soloists, and all performed well.' Congratulations to you all on a season's hard work. Guest skaters Hilary and Leslie Brown, 15-year-old twins from Up- per Canada Figure Skating Club, entertained both audiences with a disappearing act and exciting and inspiring solo performances. We look forward to seeing more of these girls. Particular thanks go to the key organizers of this carnival, Rick and 'Barb Stephens, Janice Patton, Joan Cochrane, Sue Bradley, Linda Holtby, Debbie Dell and Nancy Edgar, as well as to the arena staff for their excellent work throughout the year. Our coaches (Rick and Barb, Valerie Tunstall-Yamada, Sharalyn Campbell and Arlene Mat-. thews) have obviously worked long and hard in both lessons and rehearsals. Special appreciation to Wayne Sanderson and the firemen for their quick action in dealing with the emergency. The carnival could not continue without the help and cooperation of many, many parents and friends -- the club is grateful to you all. We look forward to seeing you all in the fall for another season of fun on the ice. PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, April 15, 1906 -- 29
