lh a RAE ES 14 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, June 17, 1986 Head UCW gathers Scugog Island Area News by Mrs. Earl Reader On Wed. evening of June 4 the ladies of the "Head" U.C.W. gathered at the home of Mrs. Marilyn Tripp. After Devotions, there was con- siderable planning for the Art & Craft Show & then lunch for the McLaren Auction Sale in Port Perry, June 21. As usual they will sell refreshments at Pioneer Days at the Museum, June 29 & 30. Now the "Grace" U.C.W. lun- cheon the same day as the "Head" U.C.W. Art & Craft show helped make a success for both events. All reports were favourable. The regular meeting of the Women's Institute will be Wed., June 18. Elizabeth Luke who has finished her 6 month term in Australia will be present with a col- lection of her pictures for viewing. Congratulations to the neighbour- ing families on 7A - Jane & Ray- mond Reader who welcomed a se- cond little daughter Christena Jane just a few days earlier than Donna & Bob Thomson who welcomed their second little boy. 'Years ago Joy Hood & Irene Red- man became g od friends. Then they chose to marry in the same year in the month of June. Of course the friendship continued & the 2 couples were together for various occasions. This year they went out to dinner together to celebrate their 40th Wedding Anniversaries. Later this summer the Ballards hope to enjoy a trip to Yellowstone. On Sun. Father's Day, it was time for Baptisms again at Scugog United when Jeffrey David Haynes was presented by his parents Anita and David Haynes. We were pleased to see Jerry Taylor on T.V. yesterday as one of the local mayors answering telephones to raise funds for the Sick Children's Hospital. Mrs. Marion Hughes of Port View Beach is still taking treatments in Princess Margaret Hospital. We trust it makes her feel better.
