3 PORN FRR, Lo cs AR PA pr Te RR RAR EAE tT Wa, imi A terrible week for Port Legion Port Perry Legion came off their worst week in recent memory losing their only league game to Whitby 53 and losing all their games in the Easton Tournament. Against Whitby, the Legion squad had plenty of opportunities to take leads in several innings as they left men in scoring position all night. Trailing 5-1 entering the ninth, Port rallied for 2 runs and again left the bases loaded as they went down for the final time. Winning pitcher was Mark Coutu and the loser was Ken Irvine. Over the weekend Port played in the Oshawa Tournament and lost 10-5 to Greenbank, 10-0 to the Oshawa Merchants and 74 to Curlys in 11 innings. A lack of timely hitting and mediocre pitching combined to give Port its worst weekend perfor- mance since the team was formed in 1983. Hopefully their fortune will pick up and the prolonged slump will be over. This week Port can get back on track at they face league rivals Greenbank in their only game this week. On the holiday weekend Port Legion will be in Haliburton for the Bennie Nicholls Tournament. As of June 22 1. Whitby Legion 2. Greenbank Gamblers 3. Oshawa Juniors 4. Oshawa Merchants 5. Theft charge is laid A 21 year old Oshawa man has been charged by Durham Police with break, enter and intent follow- ing an incident early Sunday morn- ing at Taylor's Gulf Station on Highway 7A, just west of Port Perry. Durham Police say an employee of the garage went to the site early Sunday morning to double check that the propane storage tanks were turned off. He noticed somebody inside the garage and immediately notified police. Constable Wolfgang Palleske arrived on the scene and apprehend- ed a suspect inside the building. A window had been smashed. Charged is Afra Gordon Gale of Seneca St. Oshawa. He is in custody pending the outcome of a bail hear- ing this week.
