The as the club came home with several medals from competition this past weekend. (See story for On Sunday, June 15, Chief Instruc- tor Sensei David Manara, 6th degree Black Belt of the Toronto Wado Kai visited the Port Perry Wado Kai Karate Club to instruct a special Karate clinic. A number of students received a new rank by Sensei Manara. The crowning hilight of the evening was the rank- ing of Tracey and Trevor. Mollon to Shodan-Ho, which is temporary Black Belt. Tracey (15 in July) & Trevor ( 16 yrs.) are the second and third students so young to receive this rank, normally awarded to adults 18 yrs. and older. Sensei Rob Dods, Port Perry's in- structor, is extremely proud of the honor brought to the club by the diligent efforts of his students. To crown this event, 22 students and family members attended the annual Wado Kai summer training camp at Wasaga this past week-end of June 20. Competing in a group of over 130 Karate students, Port nine medals Perry brought some (9) medals in- cluding 2nd place in the Black Belt. Kata Division by first-time Tracey Mollon. Othe winners in- cluded: Candace Ayotte - Junior Blue Belt - 1st place sparring. Cathy Pavlik - Junior Yellow Belt - 1st place Sparring & 1st place Kata. Chris Watson - Junior Yellow Belt - 1st place Kata & 3rd place Sparring. Ryan Ruskay - Junior Brown Belt - 1st place Kata. Richard Peckett - Men's Orange Belt - 1st place Kata & 2nd place Sparring. As you can see Port Perry not on- ly brought home the medals but worked. hard for those 1st place positions.
