| A a TITHE. 14 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, August 12, 1986 These ladies are 'cleaning up' on the house cleaning business Rose Ann Kennedy actually likes to clean. While many people go out of their way to avoid vacuuming, dusting or washing windows, Rose Ann says she looks forward to it. Which is good, considering what business she is in. The Scugog Island resident has just started her own housecleaning franchise in this area, part of Dun- can Superior Housecleaning Ser- vices based in Uxbridge. Founder Nancy Duncan, who also says she likes cleaning, has been running a thriving business in Ux- bridge for three years and now boasts 100 regular customers. She has three crews (each crew has three cleaning staff and a team leader) working a maximum of four houses each day. With the business she has been do- ing, Nancy considered expanding in- to franchises a natural extension. Eventually she'd like to see fran- chises in a 15 mile or so radius of Ux- bridge, including Stouffville, Cann- ington, and of course, Port Perry. In the meantime, however, she's busy helping Rose Ann set up shop, which means placing ads in newspapers and gathering a clientele. Working people will probably make up the majority of her customers, but senior citizens, new mothers and people with huge homes are also possible clients. With so much competition from other cleaning companies, Rose Ann is hoping to set her business apart strictly by quality control. As Nancy points out, she has built her Uxbridge business by relying on top quality in everything from the equipment and cleaning products used (she supplies them), to the staff. : Houses are cleaned on a rotation systein that covers baseboards, win- dows and everything within eye level. Each and every week, eye level surfaces are cleaned thoroughly, and windows, baseboards and other items are cleaned on a rotation basis at no ex- tra charge. "It's a sophisticated system that included maintenance on a weekly - basis," Nancy says. 'I like quality and we really strive to see it." For more information, call Rose Ann at 985-2795. Then in the after- noon we travelled to Lindsay Little Theatre where the kids stared at all the great costumes and the musical events that occured throughout the hour of entertainment.
