Burned out in 1884, he moved to the present Pearse Jewellery premises and started out again. Around the turn of the century, he moved to the present location -- the Aaron Ross store. On William's death in about 1915, his sons Fred and Harold continued operuting the store under the name of BROCK BROTHERS. Their grocery department was in the rear of the building next door, now the mer.'s department, which was at that time the Standard Bank. When Harold Brock retired in the 1920's, Fred con- tinued in business with his son Arthur, under the name F.W. BROCK and SON -- the name that was uncovered in the recent renovation of the store-front. The Standard Bank clos- ed and the building was purchased. to become BROCK'S RED & WHITE GROCERY STORE. | On the passing of Fred in 1955, the grocery was clos- ed and the name changed to A.W. BROCK DEPARTMENT STORE, as it is today. Arthur, who is still active in the business, celebrates his own 81st birthday on September 6th, and is now assisted by his son, Bill and daughter-in- law, Claudette. mE Kh aE Ler WS a pa ii av A.W. mig = N= \ IS VARA el=]= | (IT TYR =A ol -T-2 A = lolol Al = 1-1 ol od V; - { 105th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS | Bargains & Anniversary Presents Galore!
