Nestleton-Caesarea News by Mabel Cawker Enjoys Live Theatre On Wednesday, an interesting outing was enjoyed by Nestleton Women's Institute and friends, when they met at the Bonfire Restaurant in Lindsay. A brief meeting was held by president Mrs. Neta Fish. Convener of Education and Cultural Affairs, Mrs. Norma Frew, presented the Motto: *'A good laugh is the sunshine of the house,' and the roll call - 'Name a popular tune when you were a teenager' recalled some favourite songs of long ago. Planning for the Blackstock Fair exhibit for Women's Institutes - 10 items - 'Family Leisure of Long Ago" will be completed by the com- mittee. They will meet at the home of Mrs. Gwen Malcolm on August 20, to arrange the display. Mrs. Rika Wygerde read a letter from the Pro- vincial Board Director regarding in- formation for compiling a "Quilt In- formation Booklet for Ontario," and several other W. I. business reminders. The next regular meeting will be held Wednesday, Sept. 3rd at Nestleton Community Centre at 1:30 p.m. and the guest speaker will be Mrs. Shirley Hud- son. Visitors are welcome. A delicious luncheon was served topped off by a lovely birthday cake for the August birthdays re - Mrs. Neta Fish and Mrs. Winnifred Davison. Caesarea Community Church - The friendly Caesarea Church was filled with worshippers on Sun- day, August 10 at 11 a.m. with Kevin and Gerry Adams delivering a meaningful message in ministsy and song. Gerry was the pianist for the service and Daniel Pugh Jr. read the passages of Scripture from John. Kathy Tromans was in charge of the children's Church, in the Hall. Scugog island Area News by Mrs. Earl Reader In spite of the unpleasant weather a few weekend planned projects were carried out happily, like the chicken B.B.Q. at the Island United on Saturday. Then on Sunday there was a big picnic for the people of Carnegie " Beach. We are told there are about 90 homes there now and approx- imately 100 or more people attend- ed the picnic. There is a Carnegie Beach Association and this was their 3rd Annual Picnic. Of course there always has to be people with a very keen interest and this year's was definitely classed as a great success with games, races and general entertainment. Many ~ thanks goes to Wayne Cruickshank. Of course the food has its important place and much appreciation is due to Bob and Mary Grant for prepar- ing hundreds of hot dogs which were enjoyed by all. They'll certainly look forward to next year. We know Port Perry Fair Day is drawing very close. We have heard of the difficulties among members - of the Board and smypathize with their feelings and problems but they will not let the public down and the fair will continue as planned. It is also gratifying to know that others are willing to lend a hand and carry on. Yellow-Stone Park they were naturally drawn to the Canadian Coast to Vancouver and of course Expo. They visited friends on Van- . couver Island and also found Ruth and Orval Heayn, formerly of Scugog. Then they continued their travels to the Yukon with a tour of Alaska and returned to Prince Rupert by boat. Slute, Jeremy, Jay & Julie Diane, R.R.1, Oshawa, attended the annual Mairs family re-union. The festivities were held at the home of George and Ber- nice Sellers in Collingwood with 44 relatives on hand for this once a year occasion. After swimming, games and so forth were enjoyed, a bountiful array of delectable food was partaken of by the members. A social time of visiting catching up on the latest family news was pleasant.
