The Dairy Club team, made up of Janice Evans, Graham Wilson, David Moore and Mike Risebrough won the right to represent Durham West in local playdowns held last week at the Latcham Centre in Port The team defeated five other Reach For The Top teams. Second place in the Durham West com, 2ti- tion went to the team from Sunderland Dairy: Yancy Crosier, Bill Raines, Jim Peelers and Mike Loewith. The Reach For The Top competi- tions tests and team members skills and knowledge about such things as agriculture, life skills and general information. The competing teams were asked a series of basic questions, assign- ed questions, team questions and '"who-am-1"" questions. Points were AUQUST 15 awarded for correct answers. An in- correct answer meant the opposing team is awarded five points. The local competition held in Port Perry last week was sponsored by Loa-de-Mede Farms, Oshawa. The 4-H program in Canada has its origins at the turn of the century. In 1952, the name 4-H: was adopted. The 4-H program is open to all young people from 12 to 21 years of age.
