Ron Allen of Aylmer Ontario spent part of his summer vacation last week on the shores of Lake Scugog, on Sunset View Beach. Set- ting back to read the latest edition of the Port Perry Star he was in- spired to partake of his favorite pastime. No - not fishing - although he enjoyed some of that. Ron took paper and pen in hand and created a few cartoons. Ron has sold over 400 of his cartoons 'to small town newspapers such as The Star inspiration for cartoonist Aylmer Express, The Tillsonburg News and the Ingersoll Times. Although Ron works full-time for G.M. in Woodstock, he's a freelance cartoonist and disc jockey for local dances. Ron has a sense of humor that expresses itselt on paper. Another sideline of this is creating logos to T-shirts for baseball teams, etc. Ron and his wife Yvonne, along with three of their five children, en- joyed their stay on Scugog Island and plan to return next summer. 'Cute baby photos needed for contest Due to circumstances, the 1986 Port Perry Fair Baby Show has. been cancelled. However, we are re-introducing the ever popular "Baby Photo Con- test" in which a picture of you, baby, up to 24 months - f age, can be entered. The picture should be a maximum size of 5x7 inches and preferably mounted with a 1 inch border (no frames please). This contest will be limited to the first 25 entries receiv- ed at the Homecraft Building on the fairgrounds, Friday, August 29th between 3 and 6 p.m. (one picture per entry). Judging will be done by the public, by means of penny voting. The 15 foot boat, valued at $1,800, was taken from his dock on Port- view Beach. Later on August 23rd, an employee of the Port Perry Marina discovered it floating adrift. Two lines had obviously been cut and a neighbour's set of oars was found inside. Police are still investigating.
