I wish to speak of one group in particular, namely those fine ladies who take the sum- mer off and bring back their cheery smiles in Sept. to the hospital. Many comments by hospital staff were noted as to how they had been miss- ed. Many bring along special talents of craft, social outlets, cheery words and comfort to the sick in thoughtful deeds or conversation. The plants are all cared for and the ice water never runs low. Your time and ef- forts are appreciated ladies. Of course, this is only one phase of volunteer work for the Communi- ty and your own satisfaction. It appears that most of the Island hospital patients are now recuperating at home and leaving room for others. I imagine you all saw the Turkey Supper ad last week for Wed. Sept. - 24th and you will call 985-7426 (Bon- nie Gerrow) or 985-2653 (Marion Carter) immediately. It's later than you think. So many people headed West this year to take in Expo during vaca- tion. But Doug and Camille Crozier planned something different. Ac- companied by Camille's brother Rene Kaye and sister-in-law Marj, from North Battleford, Sask., they toured Europe for 21 days then had the last free week to visit Belgium, the homeland of Camille's parents and thus meet various relatives. Reports of their trip so far, have been the very best. I'm sure it will end all to soon. Last weekend Willena Goose and several other residents from the Foot of the Island travelled to Curve Lake to enjoy the Open House and dance for Mr. and Mrs. McCue who ~ were celebrating their 65th Wedding Anniversary. The former Alice Edgar, who is well known to Island people having spent her girlhood here, enjoys good health and with her husband started many of the dances. Alice is a sister of John, Er- nie and George. Congratulations and may you en- joy many more.
