The meeting, which will be open to the public, will get underway at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers in the municipal building on Perry Street. The negotiations between the council and Fair Board were re- opened at this time following a Home (From page 1) 7th Concession, south of the proper- ~ ty in question, wanted guarantees that the re-zoning would not lead to further uses of the property. In response to the concerns raised, council may re-zone just a portion of the 115 acres and leave the rest of the land in the present agricultural zoning. ' } Early in the spring of this year, council and the Board of Education negotiated the sale of part of the Fairgrounds as the site for a new school, but the deal fell through when the Agricultural Society voted not to surrender its lease for the - Fairground property. Over the past several months, the Board of Education has examined several other sites in Port Perry for a new school, but the six acres of Fairgrounds land is considered by the Board of Education to be the | best one. In agreeing to meet with coun- cillors next Monday to discuss the issue, the Fair Board will be aski exactly what kind of financial assistance is available to re-locate and what facilities the Township is prepared to include in a new Fairgrounds site near the Scugog Arena. | Maude and Arthur Edmonds had reason to smile September i I Rp Te he i - 7 \, 4 a dig atin J * a AMT ea messy: 5 Agu Vk gt ant a ol ge. fh - -------- 21 as they celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary (that's right, 74 years) with a cake and party at the Port Perry Villa.
