Ward I councillor Yvonne Christie said she would like more time to study the judge's decision. Regional councillor Lawrence Malcolm tried without success to put a motion on the table that the Township not take any further ac- tion on the by-laws. He suggested that if anybody takes further action, it should be the developers. His mo- tion did not get a seconder. Bill Williams, who was present at Monday's meeting when the issue was briefly discussed told the Star later he regretted that other members of council declined to sup- port counillor Malcolm's suggestion that the Township not pursue the issue further. "We feel very strongly that enough of the council's time and tax- payers money has been spent already on this issue. It's time for the council to back away," stated Mr. Williams. Mr. Williams declined to say how much the Supreme Court action cost the opponents of the proposed development in legal fees. The Township bill for legal fees defending the two by-laws at the Supreme Court hearing are not known exactly at this time, but they will be substantial.
