Scugog council has also made a committment to support the hiring of a co-ordinator to work with marina owners and local residents to help look after the problems in- cured due to the lake. This co- ordinator, who will also be working with the Ministries of Natural Resources, Environment and Health, will be employed from April until November of 1987. But the cost will not be cheap. A budget of $20,600 has been allotted for this purpose and the Township of Scugog will be hit with almost one third, or $7,000 of that bill. Although this amount of money will be included in the 1987 budget talks, it prompted Regional Coun- cillor Lawrence Malcolm to com- plain that it was unfair to ask this municipality to bear the brunt of the cost when all would benefit. He sug- gested the matter be taken up with the Kawartha Conservation Authority to see if they will chip in with some of the funds necessary. Mayor Taylor concluded by say- ing the matter would be brought before the task committee in the late fall next year at which time they would assess the merit, if any, of having such a co-ordinator. New school opening The Durham Region Roman Catholic Separate School Board is hosting the blessing and official opening of the new Immaculate Con- ception School building on Scugog Street, Port Perry, by Bishop Robert Clune, on Sunday, October 26, 1986. Many dignitaries, guests, parents and students have been invited to the celebration of the Mass at Im- maculate Conception Church at 2:00 p.m., and the opening ceremonies which commence in the school gym- nasium at 3:15 p.m. A com- memorative booklet produced by the principal, Mr. Noel Woods, will be given out along with refreshments.
