Nursing Home news PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, October 28, 1986 -- 19 Thanksgiving was real delicious by Wendy Clark We all hope that everyone enjoyed their turkey . dinner ' on Thanksgiving. The delicous dinner that was serv- ed to us was great. A very special thank you to the kitchen girls. Tuesday, October 14, some of the residents hopped on a bus and head- ed to Black Creek Pioneer Village. As soon as we arrived we all enjoyed a lunch of fried chicken, fries and carrot cake. After lunch we took in a tour of the village. It was most in- teresting to see how a broom was made 100 years ago. The ladies cer- tainly enjoyed looking in the old church and the old general store. Everyone enjoyed a bit of shopping in the gift store. Wednesday was crafts. We had a pine co. th demonstration and also made some "boo sticks" for Halloween. Thursday was also a work day. We are all busy preparing for our Christmas Bazaar that is being held on Saturday, December 6. On this particular day we made potpouri sachets and painted wooden boxes. The Oddfellow Hall in Port Perry was a beehive of activity on Saturday night as members and well-wishers attended the installation of the new executive for the Rebekahs. Over the weekend everyone got well rested and then Monday mor- ning it was back to work at the mor- ning exercise program. During the afternoon we held bowling. The top scorer was Mr. Art Hyland. Con- gratulations to Arthur who achiev- ed 102 pts. Tuesday, October 21 was crafts. We are all very busy finishing up odds and ends for the bazaar. We also worked on our Halloween costumes for the party. Wednesday, we held an Autumn Quiz. 20 residents participated in a fun game of questions and answers pertaining to Autumn and Hallo- ween. Joan Tuck received the best score. Afterwards tea and cookies were served. Some of the residents were also kept busy carving out some pumpkins. Thursday was crafts. On this par- ticular day we made doggy soaps. Friday was baking. The ladies were kept busy preparing and decorating cookies. Birthday greetings are extended to Mr. Jim Hope (Nov. 2) and Mr. Cecil Hubbard (8). We would like to welcome Mrs. Klara Balling who has come here to live with us. Mrs. Balling"s previous residence was in Seagrave. Welcome Klara. Our sincere sympathy is going out to the family of the late Robert Smith. Robert recently passed away while a patient in the hospital. We will certainly miss him. Everyone would like to invite our friends and relatives to join us at our annual Halloween Party on Wednes- day, October 29 at 7 p.m. Entertain- ment will be provided and refreshments served. Please join us and you are welcome to come dress- ed up. Our Christmas Draw tickets are out. They are selling at $1.00 a ticket. First prize is a quilt, second - a ceramic music box and third is a cream and sugar set. Why not buy a ticket and try your luck. You might be lucky and at the same time you will be supporting the residents activities.
