Cobourg opened the scoring in the first minute of play and added a se- cond goal 6 minutes later to take a 2-0 'cad. Port then came back with 6 straight goals. Todd Taylor picked up the first two of these goals and then set up Kevin Gibson for the 3rd goal. Jarrett Harman then took over by scoring a natural hat trick. Paul Allen picked up 2 assists with singles going to Mike Sorley. Jason Weinhold, Sean Bradbur,, Taylor and Gibson. The team carried its en- thusiasm onto the ice against their opponents from Orono and jumped into a quick lead with a goal by Bil- ly Sandiford assisted by Jeff Card just 32 seconds after the opening face-off. Orono tied the game with 3:10 left in the first period with what turned out to be the only shot to get by the goaltending duo of Steven Stiles and Steven Gilbert. Bradbury then scored on a deflection while Weinhold was do- ing his thing screening the goalie. Gibson then finished off the scoring with 2 goals one minute apart. Port Hope then scored 2 late goals in this penalty filled contest to make the game appear much closer than it actually was. Clair Cornish also had a strong Pineridge Atoms win the debut finished strongly with three con- secutive goals in the last five minutes of the game to seal a 4-1 home opening victory. Scoring for Port were Neil Mueller on a set-up by Michael Williams, Jeff Card from Todd Smart and Billy San- diford, and Todd Smart assisted by Jeff Card and Billy Sandiford. The Pineridge team displayed great hustle, good positional play, and '"'thinking" hockey in a very - . entertaining game. Other members of the team are: Brett Lawson, Blair Prechitko, Misty Andrews, Joey Broadworth, Corey Bricknell, Scott Wylie, Robin Prentice, Dave Bourgeois and Brent Harper.
